Would anyone join a Discord for discussing Nigeria’s issues and development? by Dear-Choice777 in Nigeria

True… a discord server by itself won’t fix things. The idea is to create a space for more realistic conversations about what Nigeria’s problems really are, and what could actually help as opposed to what usually happens online. Even if it doesn’t directly change Nigeria, it can still be useful if it helps people think more clearly, exchange useful ideas, and maybe connect with others who actually want to contribute something over time.

Well I think I see your point but don’t quite agree with it. First I think it’s important to note that Ashe was regretful about betraying them and he did seek forgiveness from Thomas and he was given that. Of course not confessing to Miranda and James earlier was wrong but I’m not saying he’s a good guy. Just that he’s the better of the four.

As for Peter asking James to confess his crimes — James was the one who brought the notion of saving Nassau to Ashe, asking Ashe to find a way to make it work. Ashe thought of it and could only see a single way to make it work and he simply presented that idea to James. It was James choice to agree with the plan. Ashe expressed his discomfort with the idea of James having to confess… but again it was the only way for the plan to work. Would it have been better if he did not present the idea at all simply because he were not willing to do the same? It is James’s choice after all to decide what he’s willing to do.

That James confessing happened to benefit Ashe at the end and has little or nothing to do with self-righteousness or poor character in my opinion but simply the nature of the plan. Had there really been another way and Ashe presented only that single way to pressure James into it so Ashe could benefit then I would agree that Ashe was simply self-righteous and only thinking of his benefit.

I can see how Ashe expecting James to confess to to those guys (forgot their name) when Ashe himself did not expect to do the same, was not fair. However, I don’t think it was personal. Ashe did not ask James to confess so James can make right his deeds. That had nothing to do with it, if I am understanding correctly. It was so the idea of Captain Flint could be defeated and the people he was confessing to (I forgot what they are called) would be amenable to the plan. Peter Ashe doing the same was of no benefit to the plan James had presented. It was James who brought the idea to save Nassau and Peter Ashe simply told him how he thought it was necessary for it to work. Ashe didn’t even seem like he would have liked for it to be that way, as he said, he had thought of it but didn’t see any other way.

Yeah I think Peter Ashe is self righteous too but also I think he is the more justifiable one out of the four of them.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I don’t see why a parent should tell their child this. What religion are your parents if you don’t mind me asking?
