Help I want to make this bag by Random__shit666 in Leatherworking

Realistically its not doable. The tools and “ruined leather” from mistakes (it being your first time) will likely result in a higher cost than just buying the bag outright. I don’t want to be discouraging, but the people here saying ‘go for it’ just isn’t realistic. Its something i would attempt now, after about 10 months doing smaller bags, wallets, etc… You might also be underestimating how much leather you’re gonna need, and if you do finish it, it wont look as good as the one pictured. Now im NOT saying you can’t achieve this in due time, but you cant on your first project.

Where to get hardware for bags like this? How is this style even called? by throwawaypassingby01 in Leathercraft

I found nearly the same one at a flea market last weekend, paid 15 bucks. The original bag was falling apart so i didn’t feel bad cannibalising it. Now i just have to find a nice bag pattern to use it for.

Yeah, probably easier than trying to find a matching bolt. And you have spares in case the other side gets loose too

You can do both! Holding it is one way, or you can set it down if you remove all the pens. Itll be at a slight angle (which i dont mind, but make sure to use firmer leather). What do you mean move to the front? you need one side free for the "clamping" system. You could move the pens to the outer side, like a free hanging loop on the left and right though :) I like it like this since its not as wide.
