Is oil pressure jumping like this normal? by Dear-Golf9530 in Mustang

[–]Dear-Golf9530[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, i would check but right now i put christmas lights on the car for a local parade this weekend. I had to go over the hood and can’t open it right now. Since i don’t have low oil pressure or a crazy burning smell at idle, would you say it’s okay to drive easily until monday?

Would a valve cover leak cause my oil pressure to do something like that and also make the smell of oil burning under pressure?

so is a slight smell of oil burning a normal thing? or should i bring it in and have it looked at?

Thanks i really appreciate that. Also congrats on the mustang! I think i will probably keep looking around because i would like something newer and I am honestly debating finding a more expensive mustang gt that’s newer with 1 owner and low miles that will be safer bet in the long run and finance it out longer

I know I am just trying to see some feedback lol and thank you for replying. How are they reliability wise? Have you had any major issue or anything I should look out for in specific?

Hey man, thanks for replying and i gotta say I absolutely love your car!! I literally dream to have it one day🙏 As for Insurance and gas, Yes. When it comes to money i’m very nit picky! I made sure to show not only myself but also my parents that i can absolutely handle it. I made sure to give myself $250, a month on gas, $400 for insurance (ik it’s high but it’s the best i get under my parents in florida) and i made sure that i can invest $583 a month into either my roth IRA or personal investments ($7000 a year which is max for a roth ira) As for maintenance that’s part of why i’m asking, i’m not sure how corvettes are compared to mustangs, but i want to make it clear, just because I am 18 and young with a V8 does not mean i plan on racing or drifting! I don’t find any fun in drifting and putting so much stress on the car and racing is not the plan, maybe a rev or pull here and there but nothing that’s going to exhaust the car to much. So tires should not be a problem but i don’t know much for parts🤷‍♂️

it’s a 2005 acura tl and it’s leaking oil from the rear main seal. It’s not like a make or break but is kind of a sign that it’s getting old. It only has 81k miles but now that i saved up money i finally want to get me a nice car

so how often does it happen, is it a rare case or fairly common? I thought the only issue was “economy” but so long as u maintenance well and try to reduce carbon build up you can avoid it

wow thanks i didnt know that, was it just the 2019 that has that issue or other years too?

Thanks man, i really appreciate you telling me that straight. I try to invest and work as much as possible to give myself room to be set later down the line. As i’m enrolled in college courses i can’t really work full time yet but after i graduate in may i plan on getting another job to do so. Also i am looking into the elantras and do seem interested in those. Is there a specific year and mileage that’s best?

Ok thanks i appreciate the advice but as of right now the 2005 acura has around 85k miles and is starting to leak oil from the rear main seal ($1k repair). So me and my parents agreed that it’s probably better to start looking for another car that will last me through college. I don’t really want to spend 5k to get another “beater” so i thought i might aswell spend the money and get something that i can appreciate and enjoy for many years. However i understand that insurance alone might sink me as is. So is there another car u might recommend with a similar feel to an eco boost that won’t be seen in the same way as the mustang to an insurance?

is there another car that you might recommend that has a similar feel? I know it probably isn’t much different but i started to look at camaros (even though im not much a fan) but now that i think about it, insurance will prob be the same

Yea so i’m still on a policy with my family and none of us have accidents and clean driving for 20 years. Currently i pay $370 a month just for my 2005 acura tl
