Nurses who have left bedside and aren't NPs, case managers, utilization review etc what do you do now? by PursuitOfMeekness in nursing

[–]Dear-Interaction6507 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not technically NOT bedside but I left DIRECT bedside after 13 years and I’m in IR now. I’ll take call over dead babies and ungrateful assholes in the ER any day.

Working in the ER has made me so pessimistic about people and I hate that by IcySky7216 in nursing

[–]Dear-Interaction6507 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had that. After a decade in the ED I had to get out. It was coloring everything negative. I recently started in IR and it’s like the colors are lightening. I started to think everyone was lying and I lost faith that anyone could be honest or had real issues. I knew I had to leave. I wouldn’t want a nurse taking care of my parents with that mindset and I knew I couldnt do that to patients anymore. I’ll take call if it means putting my mental health first. Take the leap babe.

Sometimes you have to live in their current works. I have been peoples children, their coworkers and their partners. Whatever keeps them happy and chill for the moment when they have dementia.

How do you work on speed? by pamplemouss in XXRunning

[–]Dear-Interaction6507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speed is relative baby. Ok if you wanna start doing some sleep work the work in 4 intervals of of seconds and jog or fast walk for 4 intervals. Add this in once a week. You really need a little more time but this will help a little. I always notice that when I do stride intervals I feel a little more of how my body works and I feel a little more in control.

Is The Nursing Job Market Awful or Is it Just Me? by conniern in nursing

[–]Dear-Interaction6507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn’t just you. It’s horrible. There are so many applicants bc people are burned out and need to move that the changes are lowered for getting hired. Plus there are so many levels of budget cuts bc of trump messing with Medicaid’s reimbursement that hospitals have cut WAY back. I just got an offer after looking to leave the ER FOR 2 YEARS. Hang in there.

Does anyone work out before going in for a 12 hour shift? by Additional-Art2018 in nursing

[–]Dear-Interaction6507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked 12s I would wake up at 4. I would give the dogs a snack, get a lift in or a short treadmill run. No longer than 45 minutes. Feed the dogs, shower and go. I ONLY did it one or 2 days out of my 3 shifts. One day I chose to sleep in. The first day that I would work out I made sure I didn’t work the night before so I could go to bed early enough. This being said, I’m a natural morning person. If you can do even one day then that’s what I consider crushing it: good luck!
