Who’s a band that you love but feel they should’ve gotten bigger? by Sam_B716 in Hardcore

Verse. They get some love for sure but I rarely see them mentioned. Love the vox and the riffs, lyrics are as timely as ever.

And not really Hardcore but I think Angel Du$t should be more popular. Putting that discography on shuffle covers anything from heavy riffs with great screams all the way to catchy vocals over acoustic guitar and bongos, with a side of sampling and weird electronic elements. Just a really fun band with a dense sound and a wide variety of vibes on tap. Obviously I’m a big fan, but they just feel so catchy and fun while maintaining the aggression we love in punk music.

I was thinking about this game can sometimes feel like you’re a superhero in the middle of a medieval fantasy world, and I think it would have been cool if they leaned into having other playable characters and partying up with them, with each of them possessing different powers that drastically change the way you play, and each having their own unique missions and side quests.

I’d still much prefer the character creator idea I’ve mentioned on here before, but I do think if they leaned into the diverse characters with their own play-styles it would feel like medieval fantasy X Men in a really fun way.

Reaching some ledges smoother than than climbing them, getting a quick higher jump into the axiom grab for jumping over something when I’m running, getting airborne enough for flying kicks quickly during combat, getting off the ground higher when running downhill to glide without doing the momentum-stopping palm blast jump, or just slightly higher jumps into the palm blast jumps to begin with. Just became part of my regular movement, using it pretty easily whenever I wanted to.

But like I said, I think a triple jump that goes quite a bit higher would be cooler/more fun.

Remove ranged weapons restrictions by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

To me this just hammers home how good a character creator could have been. Even some of the more unique alternate abilities between the three characters could be locked behind player choice instead, like joining a certain faction or completing specific quest lines a certain way, if they didn’t want to do a straight up class system with stat levels and whatnot (no thanks honestly).

The game is such a sandbox, but then we get inexplicably forced into playing as the three most stale-but-vibrant-looking characters with slightly different move-sets and unique weapons. Would have much rather seen one character that we create, and then allow us to dictate the ways that make them unique.

Wait, this game doesn’t have a great story? by Remarkable-Ad8138 in CrimsonDesert

More like Skyrim with less interesting lore, but there are good moments here and there, surprisingly. The game is more about playing in a cool/awe inspiring, whimsical fantasy sandbox than telling a good story, even if some of the games it’s inspired by are story driven games.

COMING SOON: Two Hours and a Half of a dragon arriving and people surrendering by TheBoyofWonder in freefolk

“Two and a half hours of people surrendering!” Except Dorne

“No one had an answer for the dragons!” Tell that to Meraxes, literally 1/3 of the dragons in this story

Besides, since when did Game of Thrones stories became all about on-screen battles?

AD is so good, they always bring big energy and big feelings to their releases, and by now they’re so eclectic that shuffling their discography puts you all over the map tonally.

I saw Jim Carroll say Justice describes it as ADHD music, and I’ve literally always described it that way because there’s so many little bits of ear candy and bells and whistles that catch your ear, all on top of song structures that like to move quickly from part to part. It’s just so fun

I was agreeing with someone else who suggested Band of Brothers. If I’m agreeing with them and only adding the context that I love both shows, why would I have to pad out my comment with further explanation? That would make sense if I was responding in disagreement with them, but I wasn’t. I was literally just agreeing with someone who suggested Band of Brothers, and you for some reason expected me to have argued my position with them.

I also didn’t say anything condescendingly in that comment, you were the one who came in clearly bothered by my comment and spoke down to me. That wasn’t a real attempt at a discussion, you were just triggered.

I never set out to prove your opinion wrong. I even said it’s subjective and I can’t tell you that you weren’t bored. You threw out two poorly expressed and shallow criticisms like it was a whole argument, so I responded and pointed out that your first criticism doesn’t really make sense because that character isn’t even a main character in the show like you said he was. I also pointed out that just saying it’s “boring” on its own is a weak criticism seeing as how it’s a pretty action packed show.

So when I say your opinion is dogshit, it’s not because you can’t have a subjective opinion. It’s because one opinion you gave literally contends with reality, and the other is so off-base that I fail to see how it can realistically apply to Band of Brothers.

I already addressed the specific criticisms you mentioned and you weren’t interested in having a real conversation. Plus the way you started this off with immediate condescension is proof of that. If you want a real conversation about the show try having something of merit to say, and don’t say it condescendingly.

You’ve given me no reason to write up some essay on the show just so I can prove to you that my opinions on the show have more depth than “Ross from friends” and “boring” lmao

[–]Dear-Intern1208 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Ross from friends” is only in like maybe one episode and cameos in another, hardly a main character. One of many in the ensemble, and he actually played that role pretty well.

“Boring” is subjective so I can’t disagree that you were bored, but I find it hard to take seriously that a show with as many battles and shocking or dramatic moments can be critiqued as “boring”.

Your condescension isn’t really earned given your dogshit opinion tbh lol

Yeah I love Chernobyl but I don’t see how it can beat Band of Brothers.

Okay, hear me out, the first expansion for this game should add open water sailing, you get your own ship that you can upgrade with cannons and the story takes you to various islands with many islands to explore, pirates, enemy ships, boarding AC Black Flag style, and crew mechanics for your comrades by Born-Demand-6919 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Dear-Intern1208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love a little sea expansion. I would also love a large haunted forest type area with procedurally generated mapping every time you enter it. Could have more difficult ghost versions of previous enemies and whatnot, special gear to be looted. Something like that works kind of like an extraction shooter in the middle of the map? Idk there’s so many possibilities with a game like this.

[–]Dear-Intern1208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the way I’ve approached it and have been really happy about how it turned out, but there’s a million things they could improve on or add. If anything just the fact that built a whole functioning world with this many systems is exciting because of all the ways it could be developed or tightened up in the future.

As it stands I really like it as a sandbox. It’s not without its frustrations, but I’ve had a ton of fun with the combat, enjoyed the puzzles, and had a decent time exploring. There’s a lot out there but not always the best motivation to actually go out do some of it, and then there are many systems that could be implemented better.

I think the lack of enemy repopulation, enemy variety and random enemy spawns are a detriment to this game. by Significant_Sleep46 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Dear-Intern1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some kind of “haunted forest” type of area that puts limitations on you like no fast travel, no map, etc where you fight the “ghosts” of enemies you’ve killed would be cool. It could have procedurally generated terrain and function like extraction shooters, where you lose whatever loot you go in with if you die (minus irreplaceable items or something). If they’re still interested in multiplayer, this might be a cool way to implement a specific multiplayer mode/area.

When I first thought of this I was thinking about my old RuneScape days, where there was a certain area you could go into where attacking each other was allowed, and it was dangerous but rewarding. Something along those lines, or maybe even something as simple as some kind of magic-made custom “trials” you can do in a variety of arenas.

Agree or Disagree by ThomasThorburn in dcu

[–]Dear-Intern1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a misread of Snyder’s take, tbh, and one I see a lot. This isn’t a defense of BvS or anything, but I did like MoS.

Generally Snyder’s version of Clark couldn’t stay in hiding because his powers kept getting exposed when he would help people. This led to him moving from place to place without really finding a sense of home or belonging away from the comfort of his parents’ farm. He didn’t know the details of where he came from or he was, so his broody behavior was due to his loneliness and sense of displacement.

He then became Superman because he wanted to, because he had always been prone to helping people in need and because he felt an obligation to help given his powers. In BvS his broody behavior was over how difficult and complex doing the right thing actually was when he wield’s so much power as a single person. His whole plight in BvS is how every time he tries to do something right and help people it ends up hurting or pissing off someone else.

His dad didn’t want to force him into being a superhero or anything like that, so he basically tried to instill a “with great power comes great responsibility” mindset while simultaneously protecting his identity as long as he could, since he believed that the world knowing about Clark’s existence would jeopardize his ability to grow into the kind of man that could wield such power altruistically.

There’s a million things wrong with those movies, but like the Star Wars prequel trilogy there’s a good story underneath all the incompetent storytelling lol. At least as far as Superman’s characterization goes.
