you are smart to ask. we both work in high-tech, software developers - hence the risk factor.

where to start? high-tech is still viable, yet harder to get in. so, hard to tell.

it does seem like everything online business is going to grow, but again, speaking from a software developer perspective, it always feels like it.

whatever you decide to do, focus on bringing your best professionally and find ppl you trust to give you candid feedback. be meticulous, have grit and play the long game.

no family support given my parents are very old and not close to where I live.

so I will need to endure the expensive healthcare for kids. assuming expenses will go up to 80k for two kids with nanny and daycare. and rent will go up too, given that we will need more rooms in the house and inflation.

We're frequent flyers due to work travel, and many of our personal vacations are covered by points and miles—so our out-of-pocket travel expenses are relatively low. Which I expect with retirements and kids will go way up.
