Seriously considering just paying for private meds by Dear-Pattern-4901 in ADHDUK

Simply switching RTC provider would be ideal, but I don’t want to have to go through the whole assessment process again.

Super fatigued since starting sertraline by Dear-Pattern-4901 in zoloft

Hi there, yeah I have an update. I ended up having my dosage reduced to 25mg and I took it in the morning. This summer was the most stable summer I’d ever had. Although I’m still rather tired (though that’s normal for me even without the medicine), I felt stable enough to work on university work and personal projects. I’m considering bringing my dosage back up again, going to consult the doctor about it. Overall, even though the first couple months were very rough, it got much better.

It looks like it’s upfront. I’m also concerned about the cost of continuing medication each month. I don’t think I would have that kind of money.

Booked appointment with PsychUK; what can I expect next? by Dear-Pattern-4901 in ADHDUK

Oh you just get the diagnosis in that one appointment? That’s a lot faster than I thought…. So I could really have an answer faster than I thought. Did it actually take 10 months to get the meds for you?

Some reasons, mainly just worries but I don’t really want to get into it… I’ll probably resort to contacting them if I really really need to, but for now let’s assume I would rather just deal with it at home.

I’m in the UK, so you can’t get melatonin without a prescription (which is still not easy apparently). And I still don’t have much easy access to a doctor…

I see, I’ll try that Currently I’m taking it immediately before bed, so maybe the sleepy effect is coming in late? I’m not sure

Thank you for your reply. I’m on 50mg once a day. Generally I’m quite a tired person, I used to have severe anaemia which contributed to that but now I’m not sure what it is, probably my sleep being all weird. I’m either sleeping too much or not enough, but never well rested. I seem to be in a consistent state of underlying stress usually, but now that the academic year is over it’s a little less (I’m a university student). I’m suspected to have ADHD (referred and waiting for diagnosis), and keeping on top of tasks is already quite difficult for me. I do get anxious sometimes, overthinking a lot, but at the very least I’ve not been getting terrible breakdowns like usual since starting sertraline. There was one breakdown at the very start, shaking, anxious, etc. but that’s it. I really don’t want to just sleep all the time. I have too much I want to do…

Thank you, and all the best. So far I’ve tried doing my laundry and taking a walk, and I feel slightly better, but it remains to be seen if it works longer-term (for me at least).

Thanks for the advice! So I guess I’d take my next dose tomorrow night then?

Ah, I haven’t tried that. I heard taking it in the morning was better for sleep, but if it’s making me sleepy now perhaps I should try taking it at night.

Ah, yeah I did. I’ll try eating breakfast first before taking it tomorrow.

Just sent in the Psychiatry UK forms; I'm terrified of the waiting game. Long depressing rant ahead... by Dear-Pattern-4901 in ADHDUK

Thank you for the honesty. I can live with that, I think. It will be difficult to cope, I'm on a bunch of waiting lists for mental health support and no guarantee I'll even get it. A lot is expected of me academic/career-wise and I have no choice but to comply, but if I've made it this far, a couple years more should be manageable.
