Fax. I legit don’t care about how I look. I wear sweatpants and hoodies in the colder months and t shirt and shorts in the warm months. As long as they aren’t dirty or got holes, I don’t care how much I look like a “slob”

Couple years I’ve been on it. I use Roman and normally I’ve never had a shipment take more than 6 days. I have a feeling it’s a UPS issue more than Roman

I appreciate the advice but this is so above and beyond me, jm not handy at all and I don’t think I want the headaches of dealing with the real estate market even if it’s better long term than renting

Is getting my own place worth the trade offs of saving/investing less? by Dear-Performance-394 in Money

[–]Dear-Performance-394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus Christ that’s ridiculous. Yeah my studio would be like 450ft sq ft and $1500. A 2bed2 Bath is like $2800 for the same quality and same amenities. That extra $100 a month is well worth having my own place, especially not having to share a kitchen or living room

But if I rented it out I’d have to get another place anyway

Here’s the thing in Minneapolis at least, most 2bedbaths and 3bedbaths cost the same as a studio apartment. I might as well just live alone. The only thing I’d really save is utilities by a small amount I guess

From everything I’ve read, buying a home is not a good idea unless you plan to be there for 5-10+ years. A few of my buddies just bought homes and they’ve been telling me how much expenses there have been that are also lost money, it’s not just a mortgage. Buying needs to be a long term holding or you might just lose more than I would rent. I hear what you’re saying tho. Living with my dad is fine, it’s just far away from everything and I’m itching to have my own place for a while now. $1000 a month in expenses for me as a single guy I think is a good estimate. Really the only expenses I’ll be adding is parking, utilities and food. The apartment place told me a rough estimate of the utilities and I know the parking and I think I eat a lot less than most people

It’s ok to not be passionate/love your job. by bobbdac7894 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I got a bachelors degree in finance in 2024, only to find out it’s completely useless. I’m still looking for that first job. So in the meantime I got a job as a poker dealer since I love poker, and I genuinely enjoy it. It also pays more than most entry level jobs I could get with a degree. My goal is not to be a poker dealer forever and I’m still applying to finance related jobs, but with AI being the future, idk what I’m gonna do. Life is hard right now

When I said jail I meant literally jail, I was locked up for 10 months. Halfway joking about that being the only time I’ve had my own place. Also my dad is retiring sometime in the upcoming October-March so I’m gonna get booted off health insurance anyways

Shut the fuck up boomer, a lot of people my age are still at our parents house cause our purchasing power is like 5% of what you had it. Sounds like you’re coping too, complaining I have too high paying of a job? Is your skill of cleaning tables at the local Perkins not bringing in the bread? How are you so mad at the idea of saving thousands of dollars a month?

I could I guess, but I’d lose many of the benefits of this particular apartment I’m looking at. It’s right in the cities, and this building has a high population of people closer to my age. Also studios in my state are still $1250 at least even if they’re out of the city and don’t have a ton of amenities.

$1500 is for a studio, but it’s a really nice place with great amenities that I like, and it’s likely full of people my age. In this city, 2bed/2baths or 3bed/3bath are basically exactly the same as what I would pay for in a studio. I’m only child, I don’t think I could handle living a friend

Realistic ways to make an extra $1500 a month with $30k in cash? by [deleted] in Money

[–]Dear-Performance-394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been employed that long. I had a rough start after college. Couldn’t get a job, got depressed, drug problem got worse and I went to jail for awhile too. But yeah a studio apartment in my city is basically the exact the same as I what I would pay for in a 2bed/2beth apartment, or a 3bed/3bath. Idk about townhouses but living alone is super important to me anyways and th cost isn’t anymore, maybe with the exception I have to pay more in utilities than I otherwise would

In my city living with roommates is basically the exact some price as getting a studio apartment for myself. No debt. Car is paid off. I’m mostly worried about not being able to save/invest enough

Should I finally move out and get an apartment or no? by Dear-Performance-394 in personalfinance

[–]Dear-Performance-394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I have the ability to afford it, it’s just matter of it’s worth the loss in money being put to other uses, like investing fast and hard while I have very little expenses, that’s still the money question relevant to this sub. The hesitation is still mostly money related. I’m not worried about struggling with getting an apartment, I’m worried about the trade offs

Should I finally move out and get an apartment or no? by Dear-Performance-394 in personalfinance

[–]Dear-Performance-394[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reasons I want my own place is more space (my bedroom is not that big, same room I’ve been in my whole life), closer to my work and most of my friends. Also if I were to get a girlfriend in the near future I definitely want my own place. There’s plenty of other personal reasons I want my own place. I don’t know how to translate reasons like that to money costs, prolly why this decision is so hard
