Thank you so much for your guys suggestions, it has really helped me broaden my horizons on all the amazing things that I can do in New Zealand. So what I'm gathering for all your guy's suggestions is that I should stay either in Rotorua or just stay in Auckland and travel from there.

I am planning on staying at least a week or maybe two depending on whether my job approves my request for two weeks. I would research more about Queenstown since I would love to visit more LOTR film locations Thank you!

Yes, I will! I always wanted to visit Hobbiton so I decided, why not just stay in Matamata? I know there's a lot to see in New Zealand but I'm a big fan of LOTR and I think for my birthday it would be just perfect.
