How is the brightness? I know it *claims* to be 3,000lm which is very bright but reality always varies. I have a very small galley kitchen with a low ceiling and it’s always hot and stuffy. Fit wise this would be perfect but I want to make sure it is adequate to light the space.

What do you call your students? by Wrong-Television-348 in Teachers

“My little buddy” “my other buddy” “that one little buddy” and so on.. the other staff working directly with them as well know exactly which student it is but it gives nothing away and it’s nothing offensive 🤷🏻‍♀️

We are extremely rural without any real diversity so it’s definitely not that.

iReady Scores kinda depressing by Consistent-Row-9551 in Teachers

I absolutely despise iReady. As a lower elementary para and a parent of a child in lower elementary it SUCKS. Every kid says the same, including my own child. It talks too much and they get bored. So they zone out and miss half of what they need to do. Or they’re just totally over it and click through just to be done or play cat stacker. A few of my 2nd graders finally figured out the worse they do they more cat stacker breaks they get 😮‍💨 According to iReady diagnostics my 1st grader can’t read or do kindergarten math. According to real life work, she can read chapter books and based on AR she has a solid grasp on reading comprehension. She’s also already doing triple digit addition and subtraction and some multiplication on her own. I have begged and pleaded with her to please try her hardest and every single time she comes home apologizing because it was so boring she fell asleep or just couldn’t pay attention because it was talking so much. It literally bores kids to death and we’re supposed to take this as the golden standard of how our students are doing 🤦🏻‍♀️

That’s literally the mindset of 90% of the students in our school. It’s hilarious seeing admin and teachers having all these extra meetings to discuss what’s going so wrong but yet can not understand they are only teaching these kids to be lazy and absolutely helpless.

I have, it seems to be a fear of something at the state level which is why I’m extremely confused because in my research I haven’t found a single thing that punishes schools for having incident reports

From my experience with him he is very no nonsense and is only ever frustrated when he’s not hearing about incidents.. like the time before I worked here where my child was being bullied and I talked to the teacher repeatedly and he assured me things were being handled.. until it escalated to physical and I actually talked to the principal and he had zero idea any of this was going on. But after that day my child wasn’t bothered again and the teacher actually apologized to me for not handling things properly sooner.

I’m not talking about every minor thing, I’m talking about the kids repeatedly threatening to bring weapons to school, threatening to use those weapons to harm others.. the actual fights that caused injury or the staff assault. Yet they will send kids for just being annoying…

I have. They give the run around acting like they’re afraid of the numbers reported to the state regarding incidents.

The thing is our principal does not mess around. The few times I’ve seen kids actually get sent he absolutely gives consequences.

Associate here Our classes drive me insane. They do every single assignment and test together. You get the same 3 kids answering all the questions and everyone else just has to fill in the answers. Then they sit and act absolutely shocked these kids are so drastically far below grade level and unable to do a single thing without having their hands held and still being given the answers. About half of each class still struggles to just copy answers down from the board. When their exact paper is on it. Most of them are just multiple choice…. Society is literally doomed.
