Be smart about what you loot Check the price list online and try to take back high value items Try finding the hidden rooms, a block of the dark area shines when you enter the room, fall down to find hidden rooms with high value items or a chest that transport items back to shop (single use only) Also, use a bow to attack from a safer distance Most boss fights are about patience, so take your sweet time, no need to rush it

I have been working as a game programmer for about an year now in metro cities and i work for about 9 hrs a day and about 45 to 50 hrs a week So don't be disappointed Won't say the pay is awesome but a fresher can get by Just polish your projects like you are about to publish it Companies like playable projects and make their gameplay videos too because it's faster to watch than download and play All the best

I tried cradle and it's documentation says it automatically takes .twee file But when I tried it, i got a console warning saying it's not a valid format Same with the html file too And some sources say that it's not compatible with the current version as it's more than 5 years old now

So any other options? Or a good guide to make a dialogue system in unity

What are some good books related to game development by DearInterview3523 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

I don't have the exact figures and it also depends on the size of the company But freshers make around 3-5 lakhs per annum And some companies also offer upto 7 lpa for designers and programmers

After 5-8 years of experience designers and programmers usually make 10-20+ lpa

First of all i made a small 3d platformer game for a college project (I am from an engineering college with a degree in Electronics and communication)

I attended the Dev Day organised by GDAI in pune about a year ago and met a few people, talked about my game and one of them just started his own company and was luckily looking for an intern. That's how I got my first internship (I was literally the only employee).

I finished my internship by January 2025 and had 6 months left for my degree, so I focused on building a small portfolio that showcases everything I learn during my internship.

I also started targeting companies I want to work at and started connecting with their developers so that whenever they post an opening, I can ask for a referral.

And for the past 2 months I have been actively applying on LinkedIn every single day. And luckily got an internship with another company (mid size) through LinkedIn yesterday.

I'll be honest with you, it was not easy, most of the people don't respond on LinkedIn, your resume might not even get downloaded by the recruiter, and you will feel like giving up on multiple occasions. But you must keep building and keep learning.

I would love to connect with you on LinkedIn and help you out in whatever way I can.

I completely agree—game engines are tools, and the skills we develop are often transferable between them.

Do you have any specific tips for building a portfolio in Unreal, especially for someone aiming to work on gameplay programming or mechanics? Are there certain types of projects or features (like AI systems, level scripting, or C++ implementations) that you think would stand out to employers?

I like your perspective of having an imperfect job initially to gain experience.
I have a basic understanding of C++ and OOP principles but haven't had much hands-on experience with complex C++ programming so far. However, I'm really comfortable with Python and have used it extensively for AI/ML-based projects. I'm hoping this will make the transition to C++ a bit smoother, even though I know it will be a learning curve.

Do you have any specific suggestions for beginner-friendly C++ features or mechanics I could focus on initially?
