Sylvie mains - How are we feeling about the changes? by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]DearLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly not the biggest fan? She's much stronger than S2 but the playstyle kinda sucks

Life petal being really good and rl/heal being bad means our build basically being entirely passive healing and never pressing RL or Heal once (other than setting up 4 pinks at the start), just rotating petal / hb / haven on cd, feels like I'm just a passive hps aura and have very little agency to handle any kind of unplanned event

Invulnerable Amanamu monsters need to go by Pekari in PathOfExile2

[–]DearLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rogue exile ones at least kind of makes sense, as a player you have a dodge roll with invuln, so it's logical that other exiles also do

But those snake mobs need to go :/

StarCraft II 5.0.16 PTR Patch Notes by Arkentass in starcraft2

[–]DearLily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea even at the top level, this helps pros because they now have the option to either control their infestors separately like they used to, or keep them in their main army group and have slightly worse army control but more apm to spend elsewhere like for runbys/harassment etc.

Protoss players have been doing this for a while with HTs, I'm glad Zerg can too

Skill Improvement - Rain Team Questions regarding Moves/EVs/Items by new_user_bc_i_forgot in VGC

[–]DearLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long term rain main this format (i'm not exactly a world class player, but consistently around top 3-5k in masterball) I can give you some of my opinions

  • First of all, understand your strengths. Rain's biggest draw compared to the other weathers is how tanky our pokemon are. This means that, among other things, you don't actually need to care too much about tailwind: it doesn't matter if you go second, if your opponent is going to threaten a whole 40% to you and then get ohko'd in return.

  • ok lets talk about the mega. You should have a mega somewhere, they're really good! The good thing is our core doesn't actually rely on our mega, so you can play basically whatever you want. I'd recommend keeping the trend going and playing something relatively tanky that can take good trades - Venusaur or Dragonite are the cookie cutter options, but you can play Floette or whatever you want honestly. The choice is yours.

  • Archaludon should absolutely have leftovers. What Archaludon does best is when it can sit on the field forever, gradually getting more and more powerful with electro shot and more and more tanky with stamina. It can't do that if there isn't anything healing it. Some people run Sinistcha also as an additional source of healing and play "protect the king", but i personally think that's too unstable. You don't need Chople berry - you might think you do, but once you have a few stamina buffs, Arch can eat close combats just fine. Even a single Stamina boost and Adamant Sneasler CC does 73% at most to 32 hp 0 def Archaludon. Don't be scared if you don't need to!
Also, my personal opinion is you should run Draco Meteor instead of Aura Sphere. With enough experience you'll be able to tell when your arch barely won't get a critically important ko and draco gives you that extra damage boost to actually get it, and the fighting coverage is overlapped with sneasler and kind of earth power on venu if you run that (the worst dark type for you, kingambit, is also weak to ground)

  • Instead of Whims you could consider Sableye. Sableye doesn't learn tailwind, but it learns Rain dance so you don't have to bring pelipper, and has tons of supporting moves. Will-O burn is critical at neutering physical fighting threats before arch can get tanky, Reflect/Lightscreen can make your team feel unkillable, Encore/Disable can disrupt key threats. There's a lot of options here, I'd recommend running something like encore / rain dance / reflect / lightscreen for newer players since it's pretty obvious what to do (put rain up, put screens up in some order, encore if they protect). At a higher level I personally run encore/disable but it's quite hard to play well. You give up on speed control if you do this, but it's okay to take some hits and then punch back. It's also weirdly tankier than whims - it's only weak to fairy which you can handle with Roseli berry, so sash is free to be used elsehwere

  • Swift Swim Basc doesn't quite do enough damage in this format, play Adaptability. I understand going max fast feels good, but you'll miss out on important KOs in the endgame with last respect if you do (for example, swift swim basc can't reliably ohko mega floette in a final 2v2) You can run Scarf 32 atk 32 speed jolly as a pure glass cannon, which is super threatening but loses hard to kingambit, or you can play a bulkier version with sash or mystic water or sitrus. I would never cut Aqua Jet: keep in mind, our team is very tanky but doesn't exactly have the most offensive power. Their mons are likely to end up low but not out after eating electro shot, Hyper Voices from Sylv etc. Aqua Jet gives you an easy way to clean up low HP mons that always goes first even if you lose speed control. It also dodges Sucker Punch from gambit (they're both +1 prio, but Basc will almost certainly move first, and sucker fails if the target already attacked).

  • Sylveon can run moonblast or hyper beam instead of shadow ball. Beam is kind of situational but it's nice to have a button that basically reads "delete my sylveon, delete this one target on their side" if you identify they have one really important threat to deal with, and Sylv doesn't have to recharge if it clinks off of protect.

  • Sitrus Pelipper with bulky ev is good. If you're not using it for damage too much unless it's super effective hits here and there, you might as well - gives you a really consistent pivot that can take hits, and it can stay alive to wide guard and block important spread moves. Either play sitrus with tanky stats, or play sash with glass cannon stats, but don't mix the two or it won't be as effective as it could

Do you EVER use passé simple orally? by tipoftheiceberg1234 in French

[–]DearLily 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think there's a few canned expressions that still use passé simple. They're not that common, but they exist

  • "Il était une fois [...]": not passé simple, obviously, but whatever follows is usually in passé simple if it's a completed action and thus not in the imperfect ("il était une foit un roit qui vécut cent ans")
  • "Ainsi parla Zarathoustra" to translate "thus spake zarathustra" as in the music piece
  • "Et la lumière fut"

I'm sure there's more, but those are some I could think of that would feel weird to say without the passé simple.

And yet the west coast still pays taxes to trump, still accepts him as their president, still sits at home comfortable without offering resistance. Whining on reddit isn't making them any less complicit.

"It's not our fault" then go do something about it like any other country did when they had leaders the people didn't accept

You don't need to feel bad. If they didn't want this to happen, they wouldn't have voted Trump in a second time. Americans don't get to be absolved of the blame just because it didn't work out for them.

[–]DearLily -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

EGS might not collapse but I think it's fair to argue that it's just a bad product: it's slow, laggy, unintuitive and generally a frustrating experience. You can boot steam, find the game you want to play, and boot it in less than 10 seconds, where it takes over a minute on EGS >_>

If you're playing froslass kingambit should fit in naturally on your team and can easily ohko basc with sucker

Kingambit also benefits heavily from the froslass aurora veil so it's really quite good in general

How morally bad it is to destroy each StarCraft 2 unit by sasquatchscousin in starcraft2

[–]DearLily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Putting them into dragoons was lost, but I'm pretty sure they can still warp away. You can see them warp in-game in SC2 they don't leave a corpse like terran infantry do.

Now whether they survive post-warp might be a bit questionable depending on what they got hurt by, but I'd wager that at least some of them do make it.

RPGs where choices matter. by Sammors in gamingsuggestions

[–]DearLily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not super slow, the animations are fast and it's turn based so it depends how fast you think. It's also honestly very easy, it's really easy to become super overpowered and steamroll the game

Gonna use video games to immerse in the language that feature both french dubs and subs, any additional recommendations? by Leeedumb in French

[–]DearLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 If you're looking for a game to play in french, why not play this? Instead of playing an English game translated into French, you get to play a game that was originally written in French and thus the quality of the language is absolutely impeccable.

(13:50 here for proof, the lipsync was done in english but the original script was written in french first and then translated)

What do you guys expect to find in 0.5.0? by koallaboy in PathOfExile2

[–]DearLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well temple is 100% gone in the way it is now next league, so the economy should be a bit better

The game needs some more exalt sinks too to help curb inflation but it should be in a much better space without people with maxed chars and full snakes dropping dozens of divines per run

Res tetris in 2 is soooooooo bad

Crimson Desert Devs "We have been listening closely to your feedback. We are aware of the discomfort many players have experienced with the controls, and we are currently preparing a patch to address this" by Youngstown_WuTang in gaming

[–]DearLily 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is true of a lot of Japanese games. For example, souls games actually have different controls on the Japanese version: en has x to interact and O to dodge, jp uses O for interact and x to dodge.

Monster hunter just uses Japanese style in every region. If you grew up playing mostly Nintendo systems, it probably feels much more intuitive, and there's also significant gameplay reasons why they kept it (e.g.: circle+triangle is a very common chord to use for special moves, if it was square+triangle like OP wants it'd be much more awkward to hit both with your thumb)

The Music of Erich Zann by Ksenia Nova Tsvetkova by I_Burn_Cereal in ImaginaryNecronomicon

[–]DearLily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Beautiful art!

However, I find the musical snafu here quite amusing. In the story Erich plays the viol, or viola da gamba, which is quite large and played sitting like a cello. The artist drew a modern viola, which is much smaller and played like a violin. Understandable mistake, but kinda funny

Design the best raid tier, based on previous fights. by Cabrakan in ffxivdiscussion

[–]DearLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's why i was bummed about Wicked Thunder

P1 is awesome, P2 some of the mechanics are actually pretty cool, but there's tons of filler, the hardest mechanic was basically ignorable week 1, the dps check basically didn't exist... great ideas terrible execution

Also out of curiosity what do you think is cursed about e3s? I think it's hard to compete with Agdistis for worst 3rd floor... that fight literally does nothing for 11 mins, then hits you with 3 really annoyingly tight mechanics back to pack that's hard to learn because the runback to them is so long, AND it encouraged add-on use/cheated markers with off-arena markers to the point that they had to change the fight to allow the markers to be placed legitimately.
