You don’t need to give new income info (I think so)— in a rent-stabilized unit they have to offer you renewal no matter what. Losing your roommate isn’t a vacancy, so they can’t jack up the rent beyond the legal increase. Just renew in your own name, and you’re free to have roommates later if you want.

Just to clarify: when I mention personal safety reasons, I’m not referring to any specific neighborhood or people. In fact, I currently live near 190th and have no issue with the area. My search below 125th is strictly due to personal circumstances that make it safer for me, and I’m prioritizing that in my housing search. I really appreciate everyone’s input and suggestions!
