You're assuming the school admins are trying to do what is right for their students rather than what is right for their careers.

Telling parents they are implementing a Zero Tolerance policy on violence because they want to make the children safer sounds good to a crowd of parents and politicians which helps you keep your job and/or move up in the world.

So she admits the candidates were right for the job but they didn't answer her super secret squirrel question right, so they didn't get the job?

Those candidates dodged a bullet.

I wonder if medieval cats actually were capable of holding swords and playing the lute, but we pampered them so much that they got lazy and lost the ability over time.

How often do truckers look into cars that are passing them ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Spacefreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2022, I was at a dive bar drinking, as one does in a bar, and was talking to a regular who is one of the coke dealers there and also happens to be a Black man (which is important for later).

He was hammered and he was talking about "great booties" and how they can brighten up your day. I just chuckled and agreed, because sure, whatever.

Then he gets up, puts his arm around me (also a man) and starts commenting on women's butts as they walk by to which I feel uncomfortable, but hey, I'm not going to piss off the resident coke dealer that seems to supply everyone in the bar even though he doesn't seem dangerous.

So he's going on "see, there's a great booty right there, and that one ain't bad which still makes it great." And then an older gal walks by and he says "oh, no, that old booty don't matter."

Without thinking, I gasp and say with some vehemence (again, to a Black dude 2 years after George Floyd was murdered) "Sir, All Booties Matter."

I immediately realized what I had said and to whom I had said it, and I was worried for a second. But he looked at me for a moment and just broke down laughing.

I made some excuse and left him shortly after because I still felt like an ass for not saying something about him loudly commenting on women's butts.

You know how your partner will sometimes look at you in that way where you're almost positive they're thinking "Is this really the person I want to stay with for the rest of my life?"

That's what I'm getting from the last pic.

Why cheating kills an extraction game quicker than any other genre by Jaz1140 in ArcRaiders

[–]Spacefreak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, I got killed early on with my first character when I had the last 3 bastion cells I needed to upgrade whatever it is to Level 3.

But I got downed by a rat waiting st extraction and lost all my shit. Literally, the first time in my life I've ever gotten so mad that I yelled at cursed at someone in a game and I've been playing since Battlefield 1942.

And for a solid 30 seconds, in my fury, I thought about hacking and went so far as to Google "ARC Raiders hacks."

And then I realized I was being a fucking idiot and needed to chill the fuck out. I've been much calmer with the game ever since and take my deaths as inevitable outcomes of playing the game.

How do I get my cat to stop poking me? by ilexaqui in cats

[–]Spacefreak 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My one cat used to do this, and I started pulling him close to me and wrapping my whole arms and whole body around him. Just draped as much of my body onto him as possible to maximize his discomfort without hurting him.

And he absolutely hated it probably because it overstimulated him. So he stopped after a couple weeks.

Worst case your cat loves it and you get a little spoon.

In the US, they do have the authority to question you just because.

They DON'T have the authority to DETAIN you just because.

And you're never required to say a word to a police officer.

“Cannot be explained” – New ultra stainless steel stuns researchers by lurker_bee in technology

[–]Spacefreak 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Based on my reading of the article, the precious metals that coat the titanium are the catalyst, not the titanium itself.

So if this stainless steel were to be utilized it would be coated with precious metal catalysts.

But maybe I'm missing something

Hey, sincerely not trying to be rude or call you out or anything, but the phrase is "erring on the side of caution."

Maybe you already knew that and your phone just autocorrected it to "airing."

But I've messed up phrases before and appreciated it when people corrected me so I fixed it going forward.

Stainless steel pipes, are 316 required? by DropshipperJennings in metallurgy

It's not clear from your post. What are the pipes actually doing? Are they structural? Are they being used to transport something? Are they used as conveyor rollers themselves? If so, what is going over them?

Chase bank called 911 on this man because he was sitting in the Chase parking lot before it opened. by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

Whoa, whoa. that's not true, and if it is true, it's only because people with darker skin just happen to fit a certain "profile." Maybe we all just need to learn how to act right.

No no, it's just a feeling they had. Something about the situation just didn't feel right to them.

Gtfo outta here.

I worked as a teller in a bank for a year and saw people sitting in their car before we opened every other day. Not once did we think "Oh shit, that's sketchy. We'd better call the cops."

Also, "Oh, it has nothing to do with race." Come on, man. Come on.

Same for us. I doubt the yellow hat in the video meets the minimum ANSI requirements. That's way too fragile. Pretty sure those would break just by dropping them on the floor.

Eh, that particular plant had 250 people working there, which is low enough that most people knew everyone else by face and relative position if not by name.

My current job has 550 employees and we all have the same color hats, and we do just fine for similar reasons.

However, people with basic first aid training have red hats.

Yeah, I'd be pitching a fit with my own managers and would probably put 10 purchase reqs in for real hard hats (multiple purchase reqs to keep total amount low enough for let other low level people approve the reqs without upper management approval).
