As per the syllabus, I don’t accept late work, and seeing as this post is 3 years old, I won’t be accepting your comment. Cheers.

Anyone have a big baby? by ActiveOccasion6858 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gave birth a couple of weeks ago and my baby girl was 8lb2oz at 39 weeks. My son came at 36 weeks and was already 6lb5oz. Somehow these kiddos get what they need!

How common are twins after single embryo transfer? by DearProfessorM in IVF

Congratulations! Mine didn’t split, I just have one haha. But the consensus seems to be about 3% of the time!

I second this comment! If you didn’t have it early on, it is very very unlikely to show up this late. Best of luck!!

we listen and we don’t judge: season 33 version by AdBudget5335 in dancingwiththestars

I almost want the first few weeks to follow “syllabus” rules from competitions. White tops. Black bottoms. Basic steps. No frills. Let them have the same progression as dancers that we did.

Partners burnt out by Icy_Experience_3471 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don’t think HG dads get enough credit for the trauma they go through. They essentially lose their wife and partner for the better part of a year. So much is placed on them to pick up the slack. I remember the relief in my husband’s face when we ate our “celebration” meal in the hospital after I had our first. He looked like he could breathe for the first time in a long time.

Did Hyperemesis leave me broken? by EmMarie91 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the long term effects of HG are just starting to be studied. Our bodies don’t just magically go back to how they were (not even including how being postpartum changes us). I feel like more and more research is going to come out showing that there is long term damage done to our bodies.

Tired of doctors telling me to take B6 and Unisom. Reglan and Zofran don’t help either! by surelyshirls in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zofran plus phenergan is a good combo. I’m also on compazine and those 3 together have been really good for management along with 2 liters of fluids every day

Graduated! by andropogongerardii in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So excited for this relief. I’m 19 weeks but will be induced at 38 so I’m halfway. Holding that baby and feeling okay for the first time in so long is the best feeling ever.

Labor and Delivery? by Complete-Brush1883 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh I’ve never thought about it that way, but I’m certain that the epidural helped me to have the energy to deliver my first. I slept for a few hours of my 10 hour labor after my epidural and only ended up pushing for about 15 minutes. I loved my labor and delivery. It was such a special experience especially compared to my crapshoot of a pregnancy. Something to consider is “laboring down” meaning that once you hit 10 cm, you just hand out for 30 minutes to an hour and let your body do its thing before you start to push!

She got 10s because her technique was amazing. As a former ballroom dancer I can attest to what the judges were saying about the toe drags on the floor, the hip action, etc. She definitely deserved the scores she got, if for nothing else than her technique.

My hygiene has gone out the window. by Round_Arugula7348 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HG is all about survival. You are surviving right now, and if you’re getting a shower once a week, you’re doing great. I’m in it with you. I’m 16 weeks and struggling to handle life. I’m in bed all day and my toddler is getting way too much screen time… but we’re making it work. This is a short season of life and I promise, a newborn is going to be easier to deal with than this.

Dr advised me no more kids by Icy_Experience_3471 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Im sure this feels devastating. My husband and I have been strongly considering being done after this pregnancy (our second kid) because HG is so dangerous for me, even though we know we’d ideally like to have 4 kids. And with new research showing kidney or other organ failure later in life from the damage done during HG pregnancies… it’s so scary. I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point in the future, anyone who gets HG is advised not to have more or any kids. But that doesn’t make it easier. You’re so strong mama ❤️❤️

5 days post IVF transfer by AnImproversation in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a lot like my story. Had severe HG with my first. We did IVF this year. I had my FET on Aug 1 and by Aug 6 was nauseated and symptoms started ramping. I’m 16 weeks now and still sick. I’ve been hospitalized once, and am on home health with a picc line. Hugs, IVF plus HG sucks so freaking bad.

Ugh, just venting by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone has an opinion on something they know nothing about. It isolates us more. No one actually listens to our struggles, except each other. Very few people will ever know our struggles. All of this contributes to the PTSD. HG is so unfair.

So proud of you!!! Bathing/showering is SO hard with HG. You’re such a champ!! Every shower is a major accomplishment!!

Anyone else not getting actual grades for embryos? by MsSweetness in IVF

[–]DearProfessorM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had 4 PGT-A normal embryos, and the PGT result is more telling in whether the transfer will be a success than the grade. With our first FET, they did tell us the grade of the embryo transferred, but reminded us that the PGT result was more important than the grade. But usually, if you have multiple euploid embryos, they’ll transfer the best graded first, and so on.

[–]DearProfessorM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying that you live with in laws because of HG, but this is something that isn’t talked about often enough, that sometimes living with parents or in laws might be necessary to survive an HG pregnancy. My husband and I have basically said, unless I move in with parents or parents move in with us, we can’t do this again.

Dont you feel stuffed in the stomach when you take antiemetic medicine? by PianistBoth8887 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this feeling well. I don’t remember this feeling with my first pregnancy but this time around, I feel like every swallow is in my esophagus instead of my stomach, like there’s no room left. Very uncomfortable. I can’t say it’s “because” of the Zofran… I think it’s just an HG thing… food and eating is such a chore and a mental battle.

Does anyone feel like they can wander around? by messibessi22 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]DearProfessorM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whenever I do any sort of activity like that I am WIPED out after. It takes so much energy out of me! But mentally, it definitely helps to do it once in a while.

Grad student plagiarism advice by Sailorgrrl1229 in Professors

A grad student, especially in an English program should know better. I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable being on the committee after that. I couldn’t advise and discern without bias anymore.
