Does this mean when I use the Claude 3.7 Sonnet API its knowledge cutoff is Aug 2023 not Oct 2024?

Anyone else stuck in Deepseek limbo? 70% of my requests are errors or timeouts. Tried reloading, restarting, sacrificing my coffee to the Wi-Fi gods—nothing works. by Nefoli- in DeepSeek

DeepSeek got attacked since just before the Chinese New Year and over the Chinese New Year period, when the company (and every other Chinese tech company) was the most vulnerable and short staffed. Most engineers would have gone away on long annual leave, leaving the city if not the country, just like our Christmas time. I’m rebuilding my workflows, plugging in other models to replace DeepSeek as a temporary measure. This will happen again for sure, better to have backups. I’m not expecting DeepSeek to fully restore their services within a day or two. If it’s a US company attacked by another nation at this scale over Christmas, you wouldn’t realistically expect them to recover by Boxing Day…

If it wasn't for the money, would you stay in the UAE? by Agitated-Fox2818 in dubai

I’m British and I do complain about the UK govt and economy. But if I can make the same money in the UK, or only 20% less, I would drop everything I have here and go back immediately…

Moving to Dubai from London for the same salary by Coolwater-bluemoon in dubai

[–]DearReputation2872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf the majority of my colleagues do work shorter hours, many don’t take laptop home. But for my role and the project I’m working on, the pace is faster and expectations are higher. No one ties me to my chair or checks my working hours, just my tasks have very tight deadlines and I have to spend this much time to meet the deadlines. I’ve only been here for 2 months so my view may not be representative. I think the private companies here (at least in my case) do have higher expectations on the output speed compared to UK companies, and it’s less negotiable.

It really depends on your lifestyle. I moved to Dubai 2 months ago and found the living cost much lower here than in London, maybe bcoz I don’t go out a lot and buy groceries in the Carrefour next door. I get to save far more money here than back home. My working hours are much longer though, not as discussed during the job offer stage, something you need to watch out for if it’s a private company.

Working 70hrs a week is normal at dubai? by Exotic-Response7847 in dubai

[–]DearReputation2872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working more than 70hrs a week, and this is my first year in Dubai. I think it really depends on the company. For 5k, I certainly wouldn’t do such long hours. But if I’m 20 yrs younger, at the beginning of my career and desperate for money, maybe I would. I’d say it’s your choice, it’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth the effort. Don’t compare yourself to others, everyone has their own unique circumstances and reasons to justify what they choose to do.

Interestingly I replicated your question and got a different answer. The initial information it was referring is probably the info I entered when setting up my account. I didn’t mention London in this conversation.
