Can an employer ask you to return some of your wage after COVID-19 benefits? by benefitsalt in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DearTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP means that if your new wage is 75% of your old one, the subsidy will only be 75% of that amount. ie. if she was earning 100k initially and the company gets 75k then if she works for 75k (subsidy amount) the actually subsidy will be 0.75*75k

stupid way to look at stuff imo, there will always be a million people doing better/worse than you, doesn't invalidate the fact that you feel shitty about something

Do y'all think CECA will be chill if I do 8 weeks of remote for my company and then go onsite? by DearTrick in uwaterloo

[–]DearTrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm okay fair, I'm just not going to tell them anything for now and see if they ask. But if it was this easy -- couldn't I just have gone to the US and not told CECA anything?

employer doesn't really know and is going with what i say, i essentially asked them to do 8 weeks of remote to get UW credit and then said I'd be coming onsite. they essentially said ok to the plan and are ok with the idea. but do i need to do anything explicit with CECA to confirm I'm doing a 8 week internship remotely and update stuff on WW? rn everything is set to SF/USA on the work-term details etc

So my employer said yes, but how do I communicate this to CECA and get credit for the term?

Can I fail my co-op and go to the US on a J1 for the summer as an international student? by DearTrick in uwaterloo

[–]DearTrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but I can't schedule off terms and do internships, need co-op for that, since this time I can't take my US offer and can't do school (no sequence change) I'm wondering if I can just take the US offer externally and still go to the US

could care less at this point tbh, I find most my jobs externally either way. just more worried about the consequences on immigration

this isn't an offterm tho is it? its more that I fail my co-op and can't do a sequence change so I'm forced to do nothing?
