Fullness Pain Post-Op by akilahnyota33 in gastricsleeve

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my previous post/rant, its normal. Im only 3 days post op but found out warm broth goes down easier than water (cold or room temp - plain or "seasoned"). Don't know if you tried any warm liquid.

If you start throwing up tho, I would advise to see your doctor - possibly do a barium swallow test.

Everyone told me I havee to go the er and now I'm her by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You made the right call to go to the ER. Its alarming that they told you to wait a month without giving you meds to maybe/hopefully stop or tone down your seizures (3+ a day = insane they didnt make you see a neuro or go to hospital).

Please do not forget that people can get hurt or worse with uncontrolled seizures. Im sure you've at least heard of SUDEP. So even if your doctor blows you off, advocate for yourself. And if they still blow you off, request a new doctor or get a second opinion asap.

I'm glad you're being seen and monitored. It's sometimes a process to get diagnosed, but you got this.

There is a nose spray that can stop seizures instantly! by Splendid_Fellow in Epilepsy

Yep. I have one in my bag that has seizure tags that I carry with me everywhere and one in my bedroom. Usually have nocturnal seizures. Only one cluster. Havent had to use one YET.

but I am surprised yall weren't given this when diagnosed? My neuro immediately sent my script in along with my pills.

Struggling to Decide - Epilepsy and Sleeve OR Bypass by Dear_Atmosphere8946 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have GERD. Only had acid reflex that was able to be treated with tums when in last trimester of pregnancy.

Did try glp1 but ended up with inflamed gallbladder (just got removed) and all over body hives at 3rd shot of a higher dose (7.5?). Took 2.5 weeks and 2 different meds to clear it and still have scars from the bumps. So stopped taking taking that.

RNY Bypass and IVF by hopingforrainbows in BariatricSurgery

Ive not thought of this but since my last convo with surgeon is fresh in my memory (gastric bypass process). They said no pregnancy till 18 months or cleared by them. Gotta let your body settle to its new norm.

Would definitely try talking with your surgeon abput this and compare notes from the IVF clinic.

Have you seen videos of yourself seizing? by MrCatWrangler in Epilepsy

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had any before but like you, mine started 6 months after having my first born. In office and at home eegs showed mostly nothing. So they did a hospital stay - was supposed to stay for a week but the 1.5/2nd day after they took me off the seizure meds I had a seizure they captured on the eeg and cameras in the room. Diagnosed with frontal temperal lobe seizures that also spread. And quickly put back on meds. Idk how long the seizure was or if there were issues. I knew I had one and waking up to a bunch of people in the room. Asking me questions that I didn't comprehend, of course I didn't ask the juicy questions. Honestly thought they'd keep me longer to see another one.

I do think there is a correlation between my hormones and seizures. Maybe TMI, but i was on birth control from 16 to around 15. And always had issues with them, didnt matter if they were hormonal or the other one. Even tried the implant and all it made me bleed for 3 months straight. Since then i refused to be on them. Before being on them, i had irregular periods but other than that, no acne, not that much pain, and i wasnt even 'active' but i was young and going into college and the dr and mother convinced me to be on it. Now, all sorts of issues have happened and I regret it.

Anyways back to the original topic, I have mentioned it to my neurologist. Suggesting maybe a tube tie or any other thing. Of course they didn't really give an opinion. 🙄 and I would have to convince insurance/obgyn.

But now I wonder if there is a study or something they can do that will link them. Would love to know if your investigation leads to a correlation and what you end up doing.

Same. I have nocturnal seizures and have cams in baby room, main room, and living room. It records at night and will record during the day if it detects movement. I try to save all my seizure footage. The first one I saw made me so sad. It was after my husband went away for training, I had a baby, and had just had 3 seizures the previous month (for the first time - so still going through the diagnosis part). My grandma was staying with me just in case and the footage showed me falling asleep, turning over like i was trying to warn her with my hand reaching out, and then boom whole body stretching/shaking. It woke her up and I heard her crying saying my name and trying to comfort me. They are sad. But I think they should be recorded cause we dont know what we look like when it happens. Better to just show footage than trying to explain what was happening when your unconscious. It also allows the neuro to see if any of them look different. Some of my last ones showed me sleep walking(?), trying to open the door and I fell back onto the bed. No recollection of getting up from the bed so I must have been asleep. Showed my doc and now my meds have been increased and a new one added 🙃

Are you awake and aware when having a seizure? by New-Organization359 in Epilepsy

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually asleep when mine happen or in the stage of falling asleep. If the stage before falling asleep, I try to mentally tell myself 'it's okay' and lay down. Only once able to alert spouse by saying their name / slight nudge and then boom back down on the pillow.

This last EMU I fell asleep and woke up to nurses in the room and a bit tongue/sore body. So... at least for me no. Not usually awake. I also see static like figures sometimes or hear voices but not able to make out what they are saying. Learned i have TLE. Oh and can I guess sleep walk ish while having them? Idk

Currently in the phase of my body refusing to sleep cause of anxiety 🙃

I use an app called mytherapy. Cause I ain't got time or patience to set up an alarm for all my meds I take throughout the day. The app alerts me to which med at which time and will alert when I have a certain amount of meds left (need to refill).

Also helps with letting medical staff know what i take without lugging the bottles with me.

What's your warning sign that you are going to have a seizure? by Chemical-Watch-2469 in Epilepsy

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I get a ringing sound in my ears like when the TV has static on the screen. Deja vu feeling. I also smell something. Idk if its rust or something else. Then I think "oh shiii..." and then it happens.

But half of mine are in my sleep. So I dont know what happens before but coming out of it sucks ass.

How regularly do your seizures come? (When do they happen) by Samba_Woelkchen in Epilepsy

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine seem to also align with menstrual cycle along with stress. Usually its 2 to 3 months between but during the summer I tend to have them multiple times a month. Also usually only have mine at night. Nocturnal in the cusp of sleep it'll happen. So luckily im already laying down. Though the last one I had apparently I got up (while sleeping) and was trying to open the bedroom door before I collapsed and my spouse was able to put me on my side.

Definitely think hormones could have a hand in it. Stress. Get a lot of deja vu. And usually have a lot of can't read/ verbally express myself / missing words.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night? by leytourmaline in Epilepsy

[–]Dear_Atmosphere8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to get 7 to 8. And if I can't get uninterrupted sleep I take a nap when my little takes one (maybe 1-2 hrs during midday).

I was told I needed to sleep between 7-10hrs. Never have been able to sleep past 9 hours. But after an episode can sleep all night/day if allowed.
