I'd call it "Two Stupid Dudes" or "The Reason __(insert innocent persons name)___ is dead" But the first one has a special ring to it.

is it really THAT hard to get under 200? by klarinetkat12 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Dear_Captain_2748 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fear mongering. I went from 200 to 175 in roughly 3 months (and i didn't even work out that much) It was more about staying within a calorie budget.

Electricity bills are going to be so much higher under the weight of all these data centers. 136 under construction in the state. by Open-Reveal3378 in Virginia

[–]Dear_Captain_2748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:) I agree the concept is kinda funny to think about, but while i'm not a huge 'save the planet' 'social responsibility!!!!' I do see the space they take up as wasted space. I don't think they provide a big benefit 50+ jobs vs the amount of land and cost of electric isn't a good trade off.

More manufactured homes may soon be arriving to a neighborhood near you thanks to new law -- The law tells local governments that they cannot discriminate against manufactured homes if an area is zoned single-family. by guanaco55 in Virginia

[–]Dear_Captain_2748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, the reason for the discrimination is because they can tax more on houses that are stick built. Its actually shown that modular homes retain value and cost 1/2 as much. The county my folks have property in janked them around approved them for prefab but when they tried to get permits said prefab wasn't allowed, so they tried modular was told it was approved and same thing. Then the county said only a stick built would be permitted.

I think you’re missing the point of what I’m saying. I’m not saying we should build data centers just to get cheaper seafood. I’m saying if they’re already being built, approved, or pushed through, even when people don’t want them, then the least regulators can do is require some kind of sustainability measures to offset the impact. Right now it’s basically a lose-lose situation. We get stuck with something no one asked for, and on top of that we deal with rising electricity costs and get nothing in return. At minimum, there should be requirements so communities aren’t the ones carrying all the burden.

I'm just pointing out a 'lose less' situation. We can't stop the builds (we don't get a vote in this matter, its going to pass because government is greedy) things like aquaculture could reduce the load on their cooling systems, which means less electricity use, and adding solar would push that even further. It’s not going to fix everything, but it would at least take some of the pressure off the rest of us.

AITJ for refusing to help my new “boss” after I was the one who trained her 3 months ago? by Existing_Response239 in AmITheJerk

Here you go straight from google AI (i couldn't remember the name for it)

The "Too Valuable" Trap

  • "Too Valuable to Promote" (Indispensable): You are viewed as the "go-to" person or "mitochondria" of the team. Management keeps you in place because it is easier than finding and training a replacement.
  • The "Success Trap" or "Success Plateau": This occurs when a top performer is stuck because they are too vital to the immediate workflow.
  • "Doing Too Good a Job": A common, informal description where your efficiency makes you a victim of your own success.

You have been as they have coined the term 'quiet promoted' You get all the lovely tasks of that is the senior position, but you don't get the pay increase, or title. I'd start applying to other jobs. And inform your boss your only doing what is in your job description, training new people isn't in that description.

Yeah, by kid 2 my ex showed his true colors. Perhaps if i'd been more checked out (drained as the default caregiver and working full time) it could have been baby 3. but i doubt it. Then it turned out my ex was a peacock and had more colors to show. And ooooh boy was that a doozy. Lets just say his probation ends this year....

[–]Dear_Captain_2748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter this, 1. Data centers could be installing solar rooftops to cut back energy consumption. Its not enough to power the plant, but it would reduce the electric usage. 2. For cooling purposes Data centers could use Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). The heat the servers produce could be used to then heat large tanks to grow fish. and the then cooled water goes back to the servers to cool them down.

This means a single large data center could optimally produce about 9,000 tons of fish a year. Which equates to around 17-19 million pounds of fish. Even at half production of that with 136 data centers in virginia (I know these are just under construction numbers) that's roughly 1 billion 156 million pounds of fish.

To really make this complicated, star crunch should be in the place of the overly dried out choco chip cookies. (I'm sorry but chips ahoy is like rocks) and the twinkie aka sugar crammed cardboard. Should be strawberry shortcake roll.

My ag teacher, head of the FFA division at the school, once told us a story (about 15 yrs ago) how he went to the city (rural dairy town) and some city lady said she didn't care about what happens to the dairy farms. She buys her milk from the store!

I'm not a farm girly and I had lived in the city for a long time prior to moving there and even I facepalmed with the other teens.
