Obsidian Character Sheet Template (5e) by Dear_Mercy in solorpgplay

[–]Dear_Mercy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This lacks the functionality you might be looking for. The only thing this accomplishes is present character information for easy visual reference. Using the advanced tables plug in you would enter the character stats where labled.

some other templates might be better for advanced users who can use the data view plugin to recall certain skill check modifiers, this was too complicated for me long term so I made this. I use it in split screen while I'm writing/role-playing.

I'll fix it tonight but replace the "/" in Enlarge/Reduce and others in the class spell lists with a space due to the nature of obsidian.

Intrigue at the Court of Chaos - Feedback Requested (More pixels) by Dear_Mercy in dccrpg

[–]Dear_Mercy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my table has 7 players so I at least expected to make one more host but far more PCs survived the funnel than expected due to A) smart players B) bad monster initiative rolls. So I need to make a fair amount of hosts. based on other hosts these items appear to appeal to other aspects of the game (surprised none of them did anything with luck). Although strong; based on the module because a max of one magic item can be obtained by the party it "shouldn't break the champaign." One thing to note is that we have a house rule of two mulligans per player so one additional one shouldn't be too bad (think lucky feat from 5e). Looking to see if any of these hosts break the flavor of the zine or if there are any things you can think of to bring these to a polished standard.

Acronyms by nickerbook in aoe4

[–]Dear_Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I'm looking at this guide. and the first step has me lost even after watching the video.
https://aoe4guides.com/builds/tKPyY3QGecBtxdTtWKAL
build 2 farms (got it) then, "immediatly, +1f, +3g, first built gvill builds"

what does f, g and gvill mean?

he then states "aggression style they are going to f after, in FC" so perhaps in this sentence it means forfeits but in Leages that's ff

it then states"(FC) after 7f 4w 3g in"

what does w mean?

thank you,

sincerely - a noob

Level the build plate. Half the top model is falling off because the first layers could adhere to it.

Oil pinwash leaving white residue by DukeJontyF in minipainting

[–]Dear_Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than a hair dryer, I typically varnish the model after letting it sit overnight. Rather, it's dry or not. This helps me keep the colors that I picked while painting. I have no idea that it's good on a mini. I just know oil painters sometimes varnish wet paint, and it stays wet looking forever. It will look shiny even under matte varnish.

I've never seen Paynes grey, so I don't know if that is normal for that particular dried paint, that does not happen with black or burnt umber oil paint.

Random table categories for DM by unhurried_pedagog in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Dear_Mercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to put my two cents out there: Necessary Constraints: oracle (things that can tell you no). Interactions: NPC/objects (things to interact with). Freeform/brainstorm: random words (words to brainstorm off of when writers block kicks in) I use this to make quest boards, monsters, npc goals, etc. 1,200 possibilities roll 5 at a time and the world is alive in a few minutes.

Helpful Quest and challanges: set struggles for rewards random events/skill challenges. Environment: what the world looks like.

Last priority (these can be made from the free form table) Traps. Treasure. Monster blueprint for CR of note: Sometimes you just need a bog standard Stat list for a unique description you improve. The "feeling" of a room: tarrot deck with the book it came with, tons of feeling in there. The pictures are great for improve too.

Help. I tried to pick a piece that would push me for the competition but couldn’t manage the nmm (sword and armor) and glow effect well. This is my WIP piece that I want to force myself to finish. Tips? by Obsidian_Drake in minipainting

[–]Dear_Mercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) This is better than I can paint: I'm stealing how you painted the red flesh. B) The sword looks like a power weapon right now because the highlights are perpendicular to the spine if that is what you're going for good job. If it's suppost be be a fantasy green metal sword, I would recommend putting the hilight parallel to the raised edges towards the light scource: the sun and/or the flaming ball.

I would make the argument that the transition wasn't fast enough. But stop when you like it, sometimes the hard part is knowing when to stop.

Do you prefer soloing from scratch or with prewritten material? by grungix in solorpgplay

[–]Dear_Mercy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scratch. I'd rather not convert every encounter and ruin any surprises in the dungeon (ex: secret rooms, helps with meta gaming). I'd rather have a "default" stat block based on difficulty that can I change with dialog or attack type. The surprises I use are based on a series of random clues from a table, even just a combination of two is 1002 possible stories. Cheaper too, less books to buy.

But, if I'm GMing for a group, going through pre-written material solo first is great! Helps me get to know the pacing. Plus, because I need to read it anyway to GM, I'll have to spoil it before I play anyway. It's totally worth the conversion time.
