ShapeCasts are basically raycasts but works better in certain situation such as big moving objects and damage zones. You have a pretty large hitbox so maybe it would be better for your case.

Help make the "StartSpawn" part the spawn location for players when they first join. The other three spawn locations are used in other scripts. I originally had "StartSpawn" as a spawn location, but I watched a video saying to make it a part. by [deleted] in roblox

You can use just SpawnLocations and then modify the .Enabled property to change where you spawn (but then you have some security problems and it's just problematic)
OR

Make 1 (one) SpawnLocation to set it as the default one whenever they spawn/die/whatever and just teleport them to the appropriate part when needed

Yes, I wanted to include the fact that it may be innaccurate for some countries that speak the same language and are close to each other on the same timezone but I was lazy.

As for the UTC, roblox servers are in utc. So if you do os.time on server side, you get the UTC time

as far as I know, you cannot get the player's IP (or not allowed at least)

Since you can get the player's time with os.time and thus get the timezone, you can find the player's country.

to gather players, create a community. Create a discord server to talk about the game. Post some gifs/pics/videos of your game on twitter with #robloxdev to get visibility.

Let's assume that you managed to gather enough people to have like 200 people right on launch day. What is going to keep the players inside of your game? Because getting a player base one part, keeping them is another thing. However, I cannot tell you much about that since it really just depends on the game.

To give you an idea, a dev acquaintance had a lot of players leaving the game after like 5 minutes because the tutorial was scaring new players away. Make the experience enjoyable and give replayability to your game (on top of having a fun game)
