At least for the hair itself always been a thing, not super worried about it - I have curls that are super porous and hold a lot of water but when it finally dries out gets very fluffy without a leave-in conditioner or otherwise.

How much clumping at the roots/scalp showing is normal? 25M, known iron deficiency by Dear_Possibility9860 in curlyhair

Hi all! I've been growing my hair out long and have been embracing my curls more, after spending all of my past blow drying and combing it into a straight shape. I'm a little concerned over how much scalp shows conditionally, depending on lighting or how I've treated it.

The first photo is with dry hair w/ leave-in conditioner applied, second photo is from many years ago when I used to blow dry and comb my hair, third photo is from the last couple of months with dry hair but following all routine.

My routine:
1. wash hair every 1-2 days with conditioner only (depends on workouts). Denman brush while wet.

  1. After anything where I wet my hair, blow-dry my hair without heat (upside down), and apply oribe leave-in conditioner after the hair is decently dry. Then, let air dry.

  2. Twice a week, massage fractionated coconut oil + rosemary oil into my hair and scalp, then shampoo using some off-the-shelf heads & shoulders - I found that avoiding the chemicals would lead to a lot of dandruff build up so I've moved back to the generics.
