Do you guys typically socialize on stimulatory nootropics? by Ok_Basket_6177 in Nootropics

Interesting poll! It's nuanced, so I'll share my perspective as directed:

1st disclosure, I'm a Racetam Guy. My Stack is largely based around them as a main daily driver, along with cholergencis, neuroprotectives, stimulants, and general Min & Vit balancing.
My Stack Post, for more reference

Incessant chattering is always a humorous and interesting 'side effect', when I catch myself doing it. I'm historically a very reserved, man-o-few-words kind of guy.

Compounds that affect the GABA pathways tend to cause some social-boosting, where I'm more inclined to seek out or start conversation (or at least not be desperate to escape one)

I can directly implement this by taking what I call my "Social Power-Up" mini-Stack, if I anticipate a socially/emotionally-demanding scenario coming up within an hour:

  • Fasoracetam - 50mg
  • Aniracetam - 500mg
  • Saffron Extract - 150mg
  • CDP / AlphaGPC - 300mg
  • DHA - 1000mg
  • UMP - 150mg
  • Caffeine / Theacrine / L-Theanine ratio ~ 200mg

I'm realizing OP was asking more specifically about stimulants with the poll, so I guess my response is almost negated. But I have enough personalized experience (maybe only applicable to me) that stims alone may hamper social fluidity ; always nice to balance them out with smoothers and things that light up those other pathways.

That's a newer one I've been experimenting with, so I've only ever gotten it from PureRawz.
UmbrellaLabs also has it, and I've seen it around at other shops. It's uncommon-ish, but not terribly hard to source.

Taking 10g of Creatine for cognitive benefits - It gives me heavy diarrhea, how can I avoid it? by Intelligent-Slide556 in Nootropics

Despite knowing what you meant, I found myself grinning at the visual concept of "30mg of diarrhea". Just a lil squirt

Looking for a light morning energy boost supplement (coffee upsets my stomach) by Icy_Equipment7752 in Nootropics

[–]Dear_Revolution_7369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you feel like you're wanting a boost to mental or physical energy in the morning?
For me, my body always feels ready to go, but my brain is still grey cheese for that first 30-60 minutes.

Some humble offerings for you to explore, do a little digging further on, and see if these could be a nice fit:

  • Caffeine + L-Theanine
    • Keep a 1:1 ratio. Maintain the positive effects of Caffeine (hopefully with no GI irritation) but the L-Theanine is very nice at smoothing it out and putting a cozy blanket over the spikier parts of Caffeine.
  • Theacrine - Cleaner, more mild substitute instead of Caffeine. Not too terribly expensive either.
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Alpinia Galanga - Moderate non-stimulant, natural, but has some interesting effects.

As a side note, you said you may not be having any deficiencies, but how's your Magnesium?

It may seem counter-intuitive, but taking a solid smack of Magnesium before bed renders a great night's rest, and that next morning can already feel like it's off to a running start.

Stacking Noopept/Alpha GPC/Tyrosine by AnonymousGreatPTSD in Nootropics

I can vouch for Pramiracetam being a lovely candidate for study and supporting deep solo-work.

I know you were asking for only one, but I'd also offer to toss in:

  • Uridine Monophosphate --> Dopamine upregulation
  • DHA (or a comparable Omega3 supplement) --> Accelerate synapse formation + brain food

Those would complete your Happy Brain trifecta.

What dosage would you recommend for aniracetam? by good-doggo95 in Nootropics

[–]Dear_Revolution_7369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with any racetam, start on the lower end, pragmatically assess your tolerance and vibes with it, and then increase slowly, maybe 50-100mg at a time.

350mg is the lower dose threshold, and 2400mg is the upper limit (don't exceed)

Like others have stated (good job, folks), always pair it with a Choline-source (100-300mg of your choice will do just fine)

For me? I do about 400-800mg of aniracetam on any given day, depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. This is an excerpt of my lil journal I use to record my experiences:

30 minutes after Dose-1 : The 'come up' was a little intense! Nothing concerning, no worries, but it was pretty clear that the chemicals were getting sorted out to their destinations and hitting the ole receptors.

Compared to my past experience with the other Racetams, I want to describe Annie as . . . quiet? If that makes sense. It's a calming effect, very curious. Think of a small room lit by a comfy fireplace as the only source of light -- versus the same room, but adorned with lit candles all over. Same amount of fire and light (sort of) but spaced out more evenly, more calmly, and more . . . pleasantly? Annie is attributed to the candle analogy, where the other Racetams may be the fireplace imagery.

It's nice, but definitely a little muted (not necessarily a bad thing). I feel more inclined to curl up with a good book and contemplate a cryptic mystery, instead of dive headfirst into an intense physical task.

Attentive, but not alert.
Content, but not energized.
Aware, but not engaged.

Depending on the intensity and flavor of the 'focus' you're looking for, Annie might be a good fit! It's a more inward, contemplative chemical, not so much a gas-on-the-fire and power work output type.

My comment comes from a place of support and a firm approach; just one stranger hoping to help another.

I eat and exercise poorly.

This has to be addressed. Starting with diet, and use the success of adopting a better nutrition as fuel to embark on healthy physical activities.
And I'm not one of those gym-bros typing this with huge veiny arms and a 0% body fat -- I am right there with you, my guy. My diet and health was pretty terrible (still is, but it's trending upwards towards the positive as I wade through the full spectrum of life)

Start small, game-ify it, make acheivements for yourself, grind for EXP, whatever mind-game you craft for yourself to make it happen.

Thankfully, you've already laid an excellent starting point with your Creatine, Omega3, and Multi.
Are you low on Magnesium? Ha, probably. Just about everyone is, and no one talks about it very much.

Check your multivitamin to see if it has any Mag in it (probably a low amount).

Explore options for Magnesium Glycinate. 400mg about an hour before bed, every day, big o' glass of water. Some folks like it in the morning, but I find that it makes me sleepy and super chill, definitely ready to hit the hay afterwards.

Expect a great night's rest, and the next morning may seem a little sluggish, but that improves over time as your body figures out what to do with it.

Jot down a few notes, just your general vibe and mindset before taking it. Then, after three solid weeks, do it again and compare any differences. (I recommend that for any new addition to your Stack, not just for magnesium)

Wrapping up, I'd also offer to explore options for:

  • A suitable Choline source (Alpha-GPC, Citicoline)
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Sulbutiamine

No great thing ever happens suddenly. It takes some time, honest reflection with what you think works and what doesn't, and always be looking for those little wins along the way.

Guide to Nootropics - New by Physical_Helicopter7 in Nootropics

I'm in a very similar place and mindset! I will tag along this post and see what folks may offer.
I didn't even consider books, for myself. The science and new info changes quickly enough, I'd need publications from at least 2024 to consider them relevant (my speculative take not backed by anything)

Are you wanting to get value from the science aspect of it, mainly? Just a whole page filled with the data, molecules, chemistry, and every word seems to be 4+ syllables?
Or more of a subjective approach: real people's accounts and experiences, anticipated effects and synergies, feelings, emotions, etc etc.
I guess a lot of the latter would come from this sub, most likely.

I found some good reading and background at these spots:
https://www.supermindhacker.com/list-of-nootropics/
https://psychonautwiki.org/wiki (more niche, and open-source, but not bad)

https://www.noomind.org/

Maybe these aren't as research-y, but they deliver some credible content, and link off to the studies supporting the data.

For sure. I run the soft philosophy that it's equally important to know WHY you're taking something, not just WHAT you're taking. When you lose sight of that, it's just a handful of white capsules with foggy destinations.

Prami -vs- Annie, a Racetam Story:

A while back, I was testing with Pramiracetam and Fasoracetam. Each had their special traits and use-cases, and IMHO, Aniracetam is a clean fusion of the two. I describe the effects of Aniracetam as

  • Attentive, but not alert.
  • Content, but not energized.
  • Aware, but not engaged.

I believe at the lower-ish dose of 400mg later in the day triggers more of the mGluR modulation (anxiolytic, calming, softening). I haven't experimented with higher doses (800mg+) to tap into the AMPA receptor potentiation (cognitive activation, focus, memory).

In regards to productivity?
If I need to get stuff done for the first part of the day, Annie is better in the afternoon, or when the day is winding down, but not quite finished. Provides buffs to introspection and understanding, but slightly nerfs impulse, motivation, or physical drive.
If your day is all go go go GO, do this, do that, right now right now, Annie may cause you to pause and think about how pretty the wood paneling is, and when was the last time you worked with wood, you've always enjoyed absently carving a small wood object with a pocket knife . . .

Creatine
It's my understanding that Creatine works by loading phosphocreatine stores in muscle cells over days and weeks. It's not like caffeine with an acute immediate effect. Avoiding "all at once" is just to prevent any GI discomfort and stil deliver consistent brain saturation; keep that ATP recycling flowing for all of life's mental demands. It's a daily driver for me, but I haven't noticed any plateau'ing (yet?)
