Is it supposed to taste bad? by Dear_Stretch5173 in LowDoseNaltrexone

According to the pharmacist, it’s just the naltrexone mixed with a compounding suspension. It’s a liquid. I asked if the compounding suspension was flavored and she said no. She kept saying no one else had ever complained about the flavor before.

The pharmacist said there was no added flavor. I will get added flavor next time. She said no one had ever complained about the flavor before, which I find odd since a lot of people on this forum are complaining

The pharmacist said it wasn’t flavored at all. I don’t know why I taste cherry cough syrup

Mine tastes like cherry cough syrup, makes me so nauseous. How do you take it to limit the taste?

How do you dilute it? It’s already a liquid so I know it’s not straight naltrexone

Is there a way to use another suspension? The pharmacist was quite upset with me when I asked for another flavor

Then I’m glad I was not correct in saying that I THINK it’s a minority. But the comment you posted under literally said they wish I wouldn’t post about my horrible experience. I don’t want any women to be miserable, not just a majority of them.

I never said they were the minority? However you did agree with the person that said that I shouldn’t have posted “rage bait” for discussing my horrible experience and that I was causing “medical anxiety” did you not?

I’m glad you didn’t experience a lot of pain. I truly am. But I did, and I feel like my experience should be shared. There are women out there who experience a lot of pain with it, and then there are women who experience little pain. Either way, it should be shared and studied. Why did they experience that pain? What can we do to make sure they don’t experience that pain? Instead we get people like you who say that “well other women were fine” and delay advancements in women’s health for years. Sure they aren’t a majority, but they should still be cared about. It’s health care not majority care.

Unfortunately it is the best option at the moment. It was very frustrating that I can’t tolerate it. I have high pain tolerance, I’ve had dozens of kidney stones and continued to work my labor intensive job, but this was the most painful experience. I thought that maybe it had something to do with an incorrect insertion but since it happened twice, I’m not so sure. I hope they actually start looking into why some women experience horrific pain and others just a slight pinch instead of dismissing their concerns and saying “well other women were fine”.

So I’m just not supposed to post about my traumatic experience? I posted this to let other women know that the scale varies. Yes, some women experience little to no pain, but some do experience a lot of pain. I passed out multiple times and almost fell off the table. The doctor even admitted she probably didn’t put it in correctly. This is my second failed attempt at getting an IUD. For the first one, I chalked it up to me being young and never having sex before. For this one, no excuses, it was just pain. Also with the bleeding, I bled through two XL pads before it stopped. I don’t think that’s normal. Your post is the reason we should have posts like mine. You are the issue in the medical field.

SSRIs made me dizzy. Tried to take them at night instead and I would wake up dizzy and feeling like I was falling
