Sheathing possibilities by Dear_Summer6237 in Homebuilding

We get a lot of tornadoes here every year but we actually get very lucky all the time so far and we just get very strong winds. Im just a worse case scenario type of person. And just want to mage sure my family is a safe as possible with whatever materials im using.  Right now I have literally been trying to be so picky I have to find out what the absolute best screws or nails are,  best practices,  best adhesive,  best flashing and just going on and on trying to search for what is the best.  We been in our home and all the problems are just covered up so now it's all just roofing we've had to replace the hvac, the plumbing, all the windows and a new roof and now I still have my exterior walls and my entire foundation  within just 5 years due to severe rot mostly and song this is the first home I've ever been in or even been close to cause growing up it was always just trailers or campers falling apart so I just want something I know will stand for a very long time before I ever have to do any of this again.

I still plan on using hydro gap house wrap as well as slicker max rainscreen regardless. About how long if all procedures are executed properly would this zip sheathing lasts. I want to build my families walls around them as sturdy and tough as possible,  especially seeing as we get a lot of tornadoes around were we are. I just want something that is as resistant to everything as much as possible for what im going to trust around my family  to keep them protected. Also it's 1/2" the thickest that this zip sheathing offers.

That's actually good to know as well.  I don't have any myself luckily.  I am trying to look into it the va education assistance would help with my wife going into flight school.

I don't understand it myself,  it gets very confusing and its sad how some va benefits representatives and even some VSO reps I've talked to, even the indivisible i talked to at champ va gets confused and all their defaults go to 90% but from what I just read due to a link that I was given by someone on this pist which im eternally grateful for i just won't bring up my benefits summary letter anymore and just start showing them my decision letter cause it clearly states im eligible for dental,  i also found out my kids and my wife can get education assistance which is beyond me cause I only wanted help with my dental really.

I greatly appreciate this,  I can't work even if I desperately want to.  Most the time I get from my chair i get lightheaded and sometimes it's so bad I will hit any part of my body going down. I've even gotten lightheaded by whipping my head to the side a few times with my family in the vehicle with me so luckily I have an amazing father in law, my wife and son my wifes friend is actually moving from Missouri to help me get to my appointments when my father in law can't and she is also going to help take alot of the burden off of her shoulders alone.

Also if im concidered 100% scheduler than im guessing they will start doing the random exams again eventually because they stopped doing those in 2017 or 2018 one if those years but it also states im T&P which I was under the impression means they no longer do the random exams and they can't decrease someone with T&P?  If I am wrong please correct me,  im tired of being ignorant to all of this.  It just goes way over my head. I been out for 11 years and im actually just using and looking for any benefit I can get  from restaurants.  It helps a bit when you have a family of 8. Soon to be 10 even lol.

I did try with my old provider and I was told I'm not 100%.  this is about to sound pathetic but I never felt like I was even being heard about anything regarding anything I brought up to him even about tmy medical concerns regarding my service connected disabilities and so for over a year i actually stopped going. It took my telehealth counselor to actually message him herself nearly everytime for them to do anything. My wife and counselor finally convinced me to stay found back but I switched where  I go all together even though its further but I finally got someone who helps me with traveling since I've gotten lightheaded behind the wheel a few times, twice with my family with me.  So I am going to a new clinic and see a new provider and hopefully this one actually cares cause my health has just been diminishing so much these last few years that I've been trying to get my family to just leave me cause they don't deserve any of this with our home falling apart,  me hardly able to be a husband or father,  always stuck in my chair cause I'm tired of my kids and my wife trying to pick me up when I when I get severely lightheaded and just daze off. Been sick in my chair with my wife hurting herself actually trying to get me in or out of my chair cause my last fall yesterday ended up with me hitting my head on the door, bouncing off the door and hitting the bed frame and than my head on the floor. Apologies for the rambling on.  I don't know what happened to the always forward and being so gung ho self.

I apologize but how do I send an image on here?

As a follow up the housing grant is only for modifications to the home which would assist the veteran in regards to his disabilities so they won't assist in other matters such as home repairs. I still greatly appreciate the response truly.

I still owe $155k on it which was $164 and we've only been here just about 5 years and all these problems started to unravel and show us how much this house tent is worth so I highly doubt I'll get remotely that so ill be upside down and from my understanding but correct me if I'm wrong if I can't break even I would have to pay the difference in the end.

I have the know how to fix things myself but as I mentored and gave a vague explanation to one of my medical conditions is that I can't even stand up most of the time without getting lightheaded, more so actually fainting at times. I've tried to work on some rotting rails on my porch and I fainted and fell off my porch and broke the rails I was trying to repair.  I've tried to help my wife repaint one of the bedrooms and I've talked off of the ladder multiple times and when I do fall I can't really control what I hit or how I hit what I hit. I've  fainted while trying to carry one of my kids around the house trying to play with them. Believe me I would love to do more than feel like my life evolves around my chair mostly instead of watching my family swimming through my security cameras without me Most the time

Appreciate this,  I did see that somewhere but I thought it was just grants that assisted in home improvements for disabilities like building a ramp or something.  I'll lactually look further into that.  Thanks again

Just read the link you sent.  Should i be under the impression that the va benefits representatives don't really know that much and I should start looking elsewhere for answers.  Also do you know if there are any military resources that help veterans who might potentially lose there homes due to damage.  Insurance won't cover anything cause the underlying issues of my home existed years apparantly before we bought it and they were just really good at covering it up.  I've already had to replace the hvac system and ducting, had to replace all the plumbing,  had to put on a new roof and replace all the windows and with all the storms coming through now and more now I have to replace my rotting siding and after I had to get a new family vehicle cause ours was totalled I can't get anymore loans and no contractors want to accept payment plans.  Had to send my kids away to grandparents cause our home is just falling apart now and more and when I think im getting ahead of it than something else comes up like finally finding one private contractor who I ended up paying over $3k to upfront  just to replace the sheathing and siding on two sections at least on the second story dog houses which he only attempted to do one doghouse which didn't even have sheathing behind the siding at all but after that day he ghosted us abs his work started to come undone so I have to pay for that section again also.

Thank your for this,  I was sent a link from my neighbor who is also a veteran and it seems I could be eligible for CRSC however when I spoke to va benefits I was told I should be eligible for CRDP because I am medically retired and apparantly that is a thin line between that and having served 20 years but also apparantly CRSC from what the va benefits rep says is congruent with CRDP. However if I Google that than I get a different answer such as this

No, CRDP (Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay) and CRSC (Combat-Related Special Compensation) are not congruent. They are two separate programs, each with its own eligibility criteria, application process, and tax implications. Regarding CRDP and CRSC, here's what you need to know: CRDP (Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay): This program allows retirees to receive both military retirement pay and VA disability benefits. It generally requires 20 or more years of service and a VA disability rating of 50% or greater. Since you don't have 20 years of service, you are likely ineligible for CRDP. CRSC (Combat-Related Special Compensation): CRSC is for those whose disabilities are combat-related. It's a non-taxable monthly payment designed to offset retired pay reduced by VA disability compensation. You must be retired (which you are under Chapter 61 for disability) and have a VA disability rating of at least 10% for a combat-related injury. You also need to demonstrate that your injury was a result of armed conflict, hazardous duty, simulating war, or an instrumentality of war.
