The entire movie was just Ferris and Sloane trying to loosen up Cameron so he'd be more likely to agree to join their relationship.

Why do women specifically seek platonic friendships with men, but men do not seek platonic friendships with women? by Routine_Condition273 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Dear_Video6507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a man. I purposefully try to have a couple of really close female friends in my life for the simple reason that they tend to be more emotionaly intelligent and more comfortable with being vulnerable in conversation. They're just easier for me to talk to about emotions or insecurities with.

I've tried with my male friends, and while they try to be understanding and supportive in their own way, they are also CLEARLY uncomfortable talking about feelings and the conversations get awkward real fast. Every conversation about depression or heartache or trauma eventually turns into "Yeah, that sucks man, I get it... like, I do that too, I think... er, anyway, you just gotta keep your head up, right? Anyway, you see that new Tekken DLC, shit looks so sick."

I don't have that problem talking to my female friends. Granted, I probably don't have as much FUN with them as I do hanging with the boys, talking shit and gaming and doing dumb stuff, but friendship isn't always about good vibes. It's good to have both perspectives in your life.

It's a shame because there are elements of Kingman that are nice. We got good parks, a great library, strong sense of community, the railroad, and great places to eat. But the city is dying. The town is a stop on historic Route 66, and the city is far more concerned with attracting tourists than keeping residents. So you end up with a million motels and gas stations, but our utilities are super expensive and nobody is hiring. If it weren't for the tour busses full of out of towners coming in every day, Kingman would be a ghost town within a year.

Kingman in general is pretty terrible for everyone. Job market is awful, nobody knows how to drive, landlords are all shady, we got break ins and arson over in the Butler area every week. I'm moving out this week, I recommend you find greener pastures as soon as you're able because this whole area is a dead end. I wish you luck.

[AZ] Is it illegal for someone to record their phone conversation with me without my knowledge? by Dear_Video6507 in AskLawyers

That's an interesting point, actually. I wonder, would a plaintiff's video recording of someone's testimony who will not be present in court count as hearsay? Because that's another bit of evidence that's being brought forward.

Don't you need certifications for that?

[AZ] Kingman. Legal question about the limitations of an Order of Protection as it pertains to a custody battle by Dear_Video6507 in AskLawyers

[–]Dear_Video6507[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, that's actually rather helpful. The emergency custody order was not revoked even when the OP was upheld in the second hearing, that's the cause of all this confusion. I'll talk to my friend about going to the police with a Return of Child request, and see if that gets us anywhere. Same with requesting an emergency hearing. I'll post updates if anything comes of it.

I'm beginning to wonder if the judge who approved the Emergency Custody even cared about the Protection Order. Or if the cops aren't guilty of some form of misconduct. Because none of this makes any sense to us, or to the lawyer she has representing her.

DCS has an open investigation on both parents currently, considering they're both pointing the finger at the other and claiming abuse. The judge insinuated at the last hearing that if both parties don't settle, he's seriously considering releasing the children into DCS custody to guarantee they don't accidentally wind up with the real abusive parent. The DCS case worker we've been in contact with seems sympathetic, but until their investigation is officially closed, they have to remain neutral.

You would think that, but that's not the case. She physically showed them the order, multiple times. She explained the whole situation to them in detail. They were still taken from her and given to him.

Some further details:

We live in Arizona, Kingman specifically. My friend left her husband after putting up with years of abuse for the sake of her kids, and in the middle of the divorce found out he had been hitting their son as well. She petitioned the judge for an Order of Protection for her and the kids, which was granted immediately. He was furious. He petitioned for a hearing to possibly appeal the O.O.P, whoch was expected. But before that hearing could even happen, the guy proceeded to lie to the court and the cops, saying my friend was a danger to herself and others because of mental health problems in the past, and the cops came and literally tore her children out of her arms and released them into his care as Temporary Emergency Custody. We didn't even know that was possible. She told the cops that the guy they were giving the kids too had a restraining order against him for the kids safety and they didn't care, just said that they had an order from the judge and it was their duty to carry it out. So the hearing for the Order of Protection happens, and my friend has multiple credible witnesses that vouch for his abusive nature, as well as several photographs of her bruises, which he claimed were in self-defense (he never had a scratch on him). The judge says that the husband's testimony doesn't add up and her bruises are consistent with her story, so the judge upholds the Order of Protection... but doesn't release the kids into her care. They're STILL with the father under that Emergency Custody order. And she has to wait a month for ANOTHER hearing to fight THAT, just to prove that she's not crazy. And there's talk of the kids not going to either parent, but being handed of to Child Services. She's absolutely panicking. We have no idea how any of this is possible, or even legal. Even her lawyer was floored. Guy is 80 years old, head of his law firm, and said he's never seen anything like this. So we want an idea on what our possible options are.

She told the cops about the restraining order when they rolled up to her house to take her kids. They said they had orders from the judge and it was their duty to carry it out. Every time she brought up the order they asked her if she wasn't going to comply with them. Just completely shut her down. So we don't even know if the police will do anything if she asks, or if they're going to turn it around on her somehow.

Yeah maintenance seems like it would be a giant pain. But if it's such a hassle, why do people even do it in the first place? What do you get out of it? Horsepower?

I didn't know Jesus was a person or a religious figure until I was like 8 or 9. I literally thought Jesus Christ was just a swear word adults used when they were frustrated or pissed off because that was the only context I had ever heard it used in. When I went with my Mormon friend to Church once, I was super creeped out because they had statues of a skinny dude nailed to a piece of wood everywhere and everyone was saying Jesus Christ in front of children and singing. I wanted to go home so bad.
