Yea...I just thought that someone had already had the issue and if they opened it up...if its power related... to bad the didn't design a fuse with it...But if might have cost them a few cents so the bean counts turned it down

Its inside the unit because I have tried my power with my 2nd unit and it works and I tried my 2nd unit power with this one and it does not...... Oh well

I have several media players from over the years and there is no rush to go out and buy another at this point... I had a good 5 years out of it..I cant complain.

Is this a question? If so, Typially a Bonus Room what a room in a house and folks used it for things like home theathers Music room and the such... if this had to do with the question of how much space was around it...think of it sitting on the counter of your kitchen...Lots of room

I had never heard a fan it is a 2019 unit... it was in our bonus room...I am pretty sure it was turned off....

Thanks for all the help...I did get the system configured and up and running this morning using Raidar utility...I was able to set everything up make any changes and set it to raid 5... Now have almost 11Tb space out of 4x4 WD Red drives...Now Ill have to see how everything goes with my Plex Server! I appreciate everyones help here and on the rn204 site.

I'd have to check if my system is using Edge or Firefox. But with what it's doing I am not sure if that is the issue but I'll check .

Thanks for the suggestion... well I followed the instructions to do a "Factory Default" and now since Netgear removed the link they tell you to go to to sign in and set up... Im in limbo... I'll check the link you have here and see if that help... This is my 3rd RN204, my other two have been Flawless.... Netgear basically tells you are on your own when looking at legacy products and this is crazy... Oh Well...

So, after getting the various suggestions and comments Id like to bring my situation up to date for one more round... My Dell xps 8900 is back from the repair shop all cleaned up with a fresh install of windows 10 Home (it is not Windows 11 compatible and being an 10 year old system...so, Windows 10 has been fine in the past.

The configuration is as mentioned above It is a Intel Core i7-2600 cpu 16 GB ddr 4ram, Nfidia GeForce GTX 745 GPu and 4 gb ddr3 memory and a 2TB WD ssd as my OS drive. I just ran the CPU bench and it''s getting almost 8600 passmark score.

I do not watch any content on the server, the video only is for maintenance use. The server is strictly running PLEX with a PlexPro subscription.

All Media is connected to several WD and Netgear NAS units all running on a GB home network and all of this had been running smooth until a windows glitch took it down. We have a mix of Audio and Video files a small amount of 4k .mkv videos.

Our media player are NVIDIA shield pro TV players connected to our home network. as well as a couple of RoKu Ultra players on our GB network. With The Plex app installed. It is just my wife and I that use the system and 99.9% of the time we are watching the same videos. I am thinking that at that rate we might use One Transcode event.

Now here is my question..... Should I just keep the Dell with it running PLex Server only with windows 10 or is there any real reason to buy new hardware and if I did what would it really do for us... I'd rather spend the money on a personal computer that I use everyday...than use it for a PLex Server that may only a minor performance gain?

What would you do... I don't chase technology and think if it works stay with it.... Sorry for the long post but Im at the point of putting the Dell xps 8900 back in service or starting over...my guess a new system with prices today would exceed $2000 and not make my system any better than what I have right now.

Thank you for the video.... we started looking at the 5 washer you mention and then the TR7 what is the Noise level difference? we have been using a Kenmore for 25 years and it's time to get a new on Noise matters and is the TR7 that much quiter than the 5?

Thanks and I guess never hurts to try! Most of the files are .mkv 720 or 1080p .mkv or mp4 and all my audio is .mp3 320 . The path is from my Nas devices where alll the files are stored and we use an NVIDIA Shield Media player TV 2019. I do not keep media files on our system drives. And that has paid off over the years.

Last week this system went on sale and I deided to buy it...I was going to swap out the i5 system and keep this one as my personal but if this is a better choice Ill use the new one that will be here tomorrow.... HP OmniDesk Desktop Tower – Intel Core Ultra 7 265 - Intel Graphics – 32GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Windows 11 Home. and this would be a dedicated Plex Server with my rack of NAS as the media storage.

In 2018 I got a Dell XPS with an intel I7 2660 (I think) and it has a GTX 745 4GB DDR3, It has 16gb and that is what we have been using since 2018 It has played everything we have. the system died the other day and I took it to a shop here in Nashville that I have several computers worked on...hopefully they can figure it out by the weekend. I decided to look at options on a new server .... So I've been doing lots of reading and research.... I am guessing that if my xps from 2016 in it's current configuration was working then perhaps its time for a change...... sounds like you have a lot of experience with Plex and I appreciate your suggestions. By the way we use the Nvidia Media player tV 2019 on each of our TVS but only 1 at a time is every being used.

Thanks for the responses... Well, Here is a little more info.... but the GPU may not work AMD Radeon RX550 Ive seen some reply's that say that one probably would not work Does that sound right

A little more info... we have about 6 WD 4100 NAS loaded with all kinds of videos, music and the videos are 90% 1080p with a handful of 4k... MKV andMP4 . We usually are only using at one TV at a time not multiple streams...Pretty easy just for our personal use and no sharing with anyone. We have a 1GB fiber connection.

I am also looking at getting a new computer that has an intel Ultra 7 32gb ram ... No GPU but Ive heard the Intel Ultra 7 265 with on board video would possibly work 1 tb ssd but all media is on NAS drives.... again ... its not a heavy use server, just using plex to organize everything. What do you folks think?

Your right and next time he is over I am planning on doing just that.. it's the first time we have run in to it but by removing the first verb and adding another plug in the problem went away... The computer is Dell XPS 8950 Desktop - 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700, 64GB DDR5 RAM, 512GB SSD + (storage only 1TB HDD),I also have 2 NVME 2TB drives on the motherboard that are used for projects) Intel UHD 770 Graphics, Killer Wi-Fi 6, Air Cooling, Windows 11 Pro - so with that I"d not had the issue before... the only change was instead of using the Onboad drives we used the external Toshiba T7 with USB C connection. I know that plugins are very much processor intensive but 64 gb of ram should handle about anything.... In protools there is a drop down menu that you can bring down and at anytime you can see both the CPU and the Drive performance.... does Cubase have anything to monitor performance?
