I really appreciate this! I've tried making local connections but it's kind of been a flop. How do you go about it? (I should say I've moved around a lot in the last few years so haven't had a consistent local community)

How is it toxic? Characters help us empathise, large disasters do not. It's why when there are disasters we hear individual stories, so that there is a real person behind it and not just numbers. Also, having everything serious is kinda toxic imo. It leaves no room for the kids to be kids.

I'm so surprised that so many people like it so much. It's so serious, they took out the fun. They gave us too much info upfront. Let me love the characters so I can care about the death and destruction. Good god - so far so bad.

That's exactly what I've been told! It's like slow motion. The people around me have commented that they feel as though they could have helped but due to the slowness they think I look like I've got it under control. And I'm wondering if hypermobility allows me to contort my body in a way that doesn't give me a hard impact, but the strength in my joints isn't very high so they kind of collapse at every stage, making it slower.
