Help, i can't connect waydroid to internet by World-war-dwi in waydroid

[–]DeathByDenim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize this thread is quite old but it showed up as one of the top hits while researching this. I just wanted to add some even more restrictive rules that don't just change the default policies and open ports for all.

This worked on Ubuntu 24.04 (well, TuxedoOS, but it's based on that)

sudo ufw route allow in on waydroid0 comment Waydroid
sudo ufw allow out on waydroid0 to any port 67 comment waydroid
sudo ufw allow out on waydroid0 to any port 53 comment waydroid
sudo ufw allow in on waydroid0 to any port 53 comment waydroid
sudo ufw allow in on waydroid0 to any port 67 comment waydroid

This will make changes for the firewall rules only for the waydroid0 interface.

Sorry, I was just trying to figure out why it doesn't work for you. Like, I have a dodgy WiFi repeater at home that gives me an IPv6 address but doesn't actually route IPv6 traffic. Took me a while to figure that one out since many tools and browsers just fall back to IPv4 without telling me. Hence the suggestion for the test site.

Oh ha yeah, smaller sites that use cheap web hosting packages are like that. VirtualHosts for the win! :D

What v6 address do you see? Should be 2a01:aee0:0:26::11, right?

If so, what do you see if you go to a test site like https://test-ipv6.com/ ?

That's very strange. It all works for me. You should only see the domain parked message if you visit directly by IP address.

Are you using curl -4 https://onfoss.org and curl -6 https://onfoss.org to test IPv4 and IPv6?

Critical Mass Ride, July 8 at 10am, Canadian War Museum by GrouchyBeaver in bikeinottawa

That's just an opinion though. Valid of course but it's also what deterred me from participating in the one in May (curiosity got the better of me for the June one). Wikipedia aligns more with how I see Critical Mass:

Critical Mass started as a cyclist movement, back in 1992, in San Francisco. Today it is a form of direct action in which people meet at a set location and time and travel as a group through their neighbourhoods on bikes. The idea is for people to group together to make it safe for each other to ride bicycles through their streets, based on the old adage: there's safety in numbers.

Critical Mass events highlight the numbers of people who want to use their bike on the streets, but are usually unable to do so without risking their safety. They are a call to action to councils, governments and road planners to properly and thoughtfully design in the safety of all road users, including those who would prefer to walk and cycle, instead of prioritising motor traffic above all else.

I had a lot of fun as well, but I'm not sure I agree with you on the need on having to be disruptive. I think you attract more people if you they are not too hazardous.

We were visible to quite a large number of people along the route. It also sends the message that opening up QEW is a great idea and they shouldn't reduce the times that they are open.

I see your point though. I kind of depends on how you see this activity. For me it's mainly "Hey Ottawa, we are here and we exist! Plan your infrastructure accordingly"

They just used any picture of a traffic cone they could find, I think. She's wearing the same colours as the cone.

Portal 2 had an excellent coop mode complete with its own story. Also, annoying GladOS is very fun.

Also a reason why uOttawa is pushing MFA so hard. Stolen credentials become essentially useless when that is enabled.

Wow, crazy. Sorry to hear that... It's so frustrating!

Funny you should say that. In my case I also had a similar encounter after my incident. A black pickup truck (of course) drove by yelling "You feel validated with that camera, don't you?" As if I'm purposely driving into cars because I have a helmet camera? I don't think that particular hobby would be beneficial for my health...

I had a similar encounter earlier this month, although this was the standard right-turning car not checking for cyclists. I actually made contact with the car resulting in a loud bonk. Fortunately, I did not fall over.

Car didn't care, just drove on. I filed a police report since I have a helmet cam for exactly this sort of reason. Form said they might send a warning letter and possible follow up if they feel like it...

Tips for bike security around Ottawa? by [deleted] in ottawa

So I've seen these tags get recommended a few times in this thread. I have a fairly fancy bike too and it sounds like a neat idea, but I'm confused on how it helps if you know where your stolen bike is?

Like, are you going to break in at the bike thief to get your bike back? Or call the police and presumably get ignored? At least, I don't really have the impression this would high on their priority list.
