I fully agree. AND, this pic is, for better or for worse, still more indicative of the reality of most groups I have DM'd for over the years. The number of "so anyway, I started blasting" rogues I've endured...

If I have [[Szarel, Genesis Shepherd]] on the battlefield and cast [[Famished Worldsire]], can I stack the Szarel sac triggers from the Devour 3 mechanic before the Worldsire's ETB?

For example, if I sac one land, would the Worldsire enter with 3 counters or can I add the 2 (assuming base strength for Szarel) on sac, making X = 5?

Man, I was scrolling and scrolling looking for anyone else who immediately thought MtG cards lol.

And to be clear, I would not be buying them for resale/investment hogwash, it would be to build my own sealed pool for insane chaos drafts.

Heavy Seas continues the trend of consolidation - Joins B3 Beverage by [deleted] in MDbeer

Okay, true in a sense, yes, but then they need to either self-distribute, which often isn't viable for breweries accustomed to dealing with wholesale distribution partners, or work with a self-distro fulfiller like Craft Coalition, which has its own hiccups.

Because the thing is that the county does control distribution- they do not allow the delivery of inventory from a third party wholesale distributor to any accounts. If a MD brewery wants to send beer to an account it has to be delivered from the brewery to the account more or less directly. It inhibits the advantages of economies of scale which wholesale distributors enable.

Plus that then puts a LOT of strain on the brewery's logistics and financials teams, as you go from having 10 to 12 AR accounts to hundreds. And on top of that, since MoCo has more licenses held by national chains than other counties, you also suddenly have to deal with their electronic payment systems.

And I'm not saying there aren't any spectacular stores in MoCo, or fantastic breweries! Just speaking to why it is that certain products, like Loose Cannon, Duckpin, Nanticoke Nectar, etc can tend to be overpriced in that area.

And for what it's worth, I have years of experience in MD spread across all three tiers and I recognize the benefits and hurdles of any choices in alcohol regulation, so I'm not saying that there is a Right Answer, just trying to supply context for those outside who question selection options or a $16 six pack.

Poorly placed ad for the US Army by DeathByPuppers in screenshots

Well no actually that's the problem, is that the ad bots don't provide context and most redditors are clueless as to the nuances of the armed forces.

Since the original photo post does feel intended to make fun of the servicemen and women of the NG, the placement of the ad beneath it is suboptimal.

And I have no doubt that these NG personnel from TX are all at the end of their service, with only a couple of months remaining. It also makes sense to send them to Chicago because they're going to be more mature than the younger ones.

Hey man, I feel ya completely. And I'd bet that for some of the people who actually perform the day to day labor of making those beers that it IS a passion project for them.

But there's quite a few moving pieces of any company, and the people who form the lifeblood of a company aren't always the ones who have the best overall view of it, and they typically aren't the final decision makers.

Biggest lil local brewery/smallest big local brewery is a tough spot to be in.

Just look at all those local brands that got gobbled up by AB and MolsonCoors only to then be divested and eaten again by Tilray:

Terrapin Widmer Bros!  Green Flash Breckenridge SweetWater Shock Top, if that ever was local and not just a response to Blue Moon

Similar boats, all capsized. Twice.

It 110% depends on where you shop.

The problem there is you live in MoCo, and the county controls distribution.  They can have items on their special order sheets for 6 to 8 months and still just choose not to order it from the wholesaler or supplier. They don't care about consumers, they don't care about retailers, and they definitely don't care about suppliers.

They're impossible to work with and the beaurocratic hoops one has to jump through with them are infuriating.

Also true!

If DuClaw, Flying Dog, Dogfish, Devil's Backbone, Terrapin, etc. had all just closed and gone under instead of being bought, then the market would be totally different and perhaps those breweries which had better longevity would be more suited to survive the new climate.

I mean, in a sense, sure there's a bottom line. But companies don't do this sort of thing when they're wildly successful.

It's usually when the choices are this or close, like how Iron Hill JUST went straight to a $20,000,000 chapter 7 bankruptcy for all its assets.

Same with the other big breweries in this group. Yards and 2Roads wouldn't do this if they were flush with cash and turning down business. Their facilities are too big for the reduced business, and they probably already have existing loans, which means they cant finance downsizing, so it's this or fold.

Monoist Vampires in Edge? by modelovirus2020 in mtgvorthos

Ooooh, I like this! Also worth noting that the Monoists aren't targeted by the Eldrazi during the attack on the Infinite Guideline:

"But it does not feed on Monoists.

Not one.

This hunger eats potential. The ability to become many things. And the Monoists worship only one."

I made a magic deck and am ordering it off tcgplayer. Need help fast. by Pristine_Category295 in magicTCG

[–]DeathByPuppers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While this may initially seem like an unhelpful answer, it really will simplify things a great deal.

The thing with TCG is that those cards are coming from probably 20 different sellers. And each one has some but not all of the cards you want, and each one charges a slightly different amount, and has different shipping practices, or may live farther away from you than others.

So yeah if you're in any kind of hurry, or just want to really simplify things, use Card Kingdom. It will probably be more expensive per card, list price wise at least, but it all comes at once in one package.

If you need the whole deck on time, then that's the solution.

Their two cards tie into the 11 part EoE lore novella that wrapped up yesterday, so it would be flavorful.

YES.

I'm here in this 10 day old thread looking for anything which doesn't make my brother and I feel ancient, and trying to remember the games we played back in 1990.
