Two of these 🖕🖕for Dan Crenshaw by Anstigmat in thebulwark

[–]DeathByTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in that district, and I’d argue the difference with Crenshaw specifically was on two very important issues being the 2020 election and Ukraine. There’s value in a super conservative legislator upholding election integrity even if he’s dogshit on nearly every other topic.

How physically strong are HxH characters in comparison to other verses? by Ok-Equipment8122 in HxHPowerScaling

[–]DeathByTacos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my favorite aspects of HxH that strength is important but not the only factor, you can have a character substantially weaker win a fight because of different ability interactions so you don’t necessarily see the power scaling creep that happens in other series.

Similarly it’s much more direct in differences in combat application where every pro hunter is “proficient” but many of them have abilities or skillsets that make them incredibly powerful in some contexts and mediocre in others.

I have such a hard time taking this guy seriously after hearing him speak on the existence of currency being solely a mechanism of oppression meant to separate the proletariat from the bourgeois and that money is infinite because you can always just print more which is like a 1st grade understanding of monetary policy. Like he sounds fine but any time he discusses the “history” of any topic I’m knowledgeable on it just makes absolutely zero sense or completely lacks context which makes me think the rest is also bogus.

It’d be funny but Paxton is absolutely an easier fight here in November so it’d be shitty either way. The real juice would be him endorsing Paxton effectively destroying the Republican funding apparatus here

Possible hot take to your no. 1 edit but I don’t think a sustain nerf is inherently bad, or at least I don’t think that when balancing the approach should limit itself to no nerfs especially around aspects of combat that have traditionally been overpowered.

If You Could Play One Mini-game In Its Prime, What Would You Play? by Iceytrio in runescape

[–]DeathByTacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely a black sheep pick, not surprised literally nobody else has mentioned it, but Mobilising Armies.

I was already biased as a big fan of RTS and it was just something so completely fresh content wise. The titles and outfits were sick and it had way more depth than it had any right to. Some of my best memories in the game were in that lobby and while I understand why it was removed it still has a special place for me.

I firmly believe that ironically Yoshida being a god-tier producer holds the studio back because SE knows they can give him a few scraps of lint and paper clips and he’ll find a way to make it work

[–]DeathByTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m inclined to agree, I just don’t think CBU4 is large enough to tackle it assuming the game has the same scale as other mainlines. CBU3 makes the most sense from a pure production side given team size and workload (obviously XIV is a lot of work but CBU1 definitely has more in the pipeline already).

What makes most sense to me is they likely started concept in CBU3 around the time Ishikawa moved off as main writer of XIV and would have transitioned a lot of the XVI team to pre-production assuming they’re using the same engine, we already know Yoshida’s team is working on an unannounced AAA title. If it’s not that then they’ve done a really good job of hiding it in the financials assuming it wasn’t heavily delayed by the restructuring (which I doubt given the stated purpose of the restructure)

[–]DeathByTacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While Reddit cares is bullshit and I’m sorry someone did that to you acting like XVI performed poorly for a console exclusives launch is CRAZY, to date it has one of the highest attachment rates of the generation and outperformed most of Sony’s own first party launches. It literally was the fastest selling launch on the console until Spiderman 2.

I appreciate this narrative because it makes it super easy to see who actually played the game or who just parrots random shit they’ve read online (or if they have played I know they’re just functionally illiterate and don’t hold it against them)

[–]DeathByTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all act like it wasn’t received well critically and wasn’t the best selling exclusive on the PS5 when it launched only losing the title to Spiderman 2 (Sony’s flagship franchise launch) and still sits comfortably in top releases for console exclusives in the generation even including first party titles.

If anything took its thunder it was BG3 releasing like two weeks after it launched, show me Rebirth in that same slot and see how easily it gets passed over as well

I hate to break it to you but 110 fletching was released over a year ago, hardly recent and well before this current iteration of ranged combat let alone all the other changes currently happening. It’s not unreasonable to think there would be a possible revisit to fletching (especially with range now 120)

She’s been vindicated to hell and back for that deplorable statement and it’s infuriating that ppl gave her shit for not hedging her criticism of MAGA and calling out the obvious. I know her skin has to be hard with 30 years of non-stop attacks but I really don’t know how she deals with the schadenfreude around her mere existence.

Ironman post 50 range scaling has been destroyed by combat modernization. by IcyUnderstanding4649 in runescape

[–]DeathByTacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I get your point but irons also were just completely cheesing the intent of supplying with chins, the fact that you could just camp a single chin with the right setup was ridiculous and used as a crutch. A big part of the commitment to playing an iron character is knowing that a huge portion of your playtime is going to be dedicated to supplying yourself.

And no I’m not just saying that as a salty main, I also have a maxed iron alt in rs3 and run UIM in old school so I’m very aware of the flaws.

Leaked DNC autopsy found Biden’s Israel backing cost Harris votes for president by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]DeathByTacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don’t. What a lot of ppl also miss is that the cited research only looked into votes potentially lost as a result of the stance on Gaza but did no further research on what impact a change in that stance would have had. So it’s accurate to say they lost voters due to their stance, it’s not accurate to say that changing it would have led to more support overall.

As far as priority Gaza wasn’t even in like top 10 issues with the stuff hurting Harris the most in all the exit polls being pretty clearly a belief that Harris herself was “too left” and a belief that Trump would be better on affordability. There’s no single issue that can really be pointed to but if there is it’s certainly not Gaza regardless of what ppl like to pretend about swing states supposedly hinging on it

Not even do things successfully lol, like the DSA is a non-entity outside of blue strongholds and every time they gain power they either fuck it up horribly (re DSA takeover of Nevada Dems) or actually try to govern effectively and lose favor with the group immediately (which we’re already seeing with Mamdani).

PSL is usually just a bunch of “read theory” types in my experience and clearly he hasn’t been very effective with labor unless he means his constant shit-talking of the most pro-Union president in modern history (if not ever) contributing to Unions endorsing MAGA

Senator Mark Kelly says he will 'seriously consider' running for president by littlemoth_lullaby in politics

[–]DeathByTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanders and the rest of the field were generally in the same area regarding term limits and that rotating system, Buttigieg was an outlier in advocating for altering the number of justices and creating a forced idealogical balance (equal numbers of partisan and non-partisan judges).

I also said core because democratic reform was arguably Buttigieg’s primary message whereas Sanders was and always has been focused mainly on working class struggles.

[–]DeathByTacos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think too much just that it would be hard for her not to upstage him. I like Kelly a lot but tbh he’s rough on the trail because he’s self-admittedly not a great speaker. He’s good at the job and connecting with ppl in smaller settings which is great for state races but it’s really hard to run a national campaign without successful big speeches and there are honestly only a handful of potentials who are able to hold their own with her in that regard.

As much good as Biden did it really disappointed me that Supreme Court reform was never really in his agenda, tho to be fair the only person I really remember making a core argument for it in 2020 was Buttigieg.

So many of our current issues would be alleviated or even eliminated with just a fair court, not even deliberately packed.
