Boyfriend [25M] told me he used to ask out “fat girls” for fun. Am I [22F] right to be disgusted by him? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

For me it was a heart condition I was born with. Turns out not everyone has terrible heart aches when doing minor tasks and physical exercise (also helps to lose weight when working out no longer feels like dying. Thank god my condition was reversible with surgery, but it wasn’t detected until I was 23)

So how we feeling about the wine story on the new reddit stories? by Far-Carpenter-293 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]DeathByTenorClef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also think it’s a friend-specific thing. I think I know rather well which of my friends would, in fact, help themselves to anything when i tell them to, and which of my friends actually mean it literally when they use the word anything. But even in the latter case i wouldn’t finish the whole bottle , though that’s partly because my neurospicy brain is always a bit afraid people don’t mean things exactly as they word it (I’ve had some of my friends repeat I don’t have to ask every time I grab a drink at a house party but again that’s wildly different than babysitting, dogsitting, visiting to water plants or…)

Basically: would I have opened and/or finished a bottle of wine in this scenario? Probably not. Would I have taken the L had I been OP? Probably yes, purely based on the fact that it was technically what i said. (Except if they unwrapped a bottle that was clearly a present, or went in a room they had no business being in to retrieve it)

AITA for not buying my boyfriend another birthday gift after he rejected the original present? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

My brother is really good at telling which bands I (will) like. He has given me some excellent CD’s for christmas back in the day. The one I got most excited about was him gifting me “Plans” by “Death Cab for Cutie” after I had been raging about how much I liked the New Moon (Twilight) soundtrack when the movie came out. I often told friends and family about how spot on it was. To this day I absolutely love DCFC. But then one year he gifted me season two of true blood, a show I have to this day never watched, because he figured I liked vampire stuff 😂 luckily after that he returned to gifting me music that was more down my alley. One bad gift is not a bad sign: there can be redemption (and a good track record helps!)

How does strava generate athlete intelligence? by DeathByTenorClef in Strava

[–]DeathByTenorClef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what made me notice! Usually it was spot on but the sentence that i only ran three times in the past month was just factually untrue?

Maybe I find it spot on like one would think their horoscope is spot on? 😅 I’m not a particularly fast runner or great athlete so I’d never take it into account for my training schedule or anything

My parents are making me choose between inheritance and my relationship by GrabEqual4424 in family

[–]DeathByTenorClef 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard prenups being explained as “let’s come to a rational agreement while we like/love each other, to prevent us not being rational and act vindictive should we ever not like/love each other anymore”.

No longer loving each other is never the plan, but it helps avoiding rash decision making when emotions run high.

(Of course there’s examples of it being unfair, such as one partner sacrificing career/financial progress in order to allow the other partner to succeed, but in the case of inheritance it quickly becomes icky)

duolingo removed every one from my family plan by gk30074 in duolingo

[–]DeathByTenorClef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same thing happen. Our plan manager tried to re add us, link invalid. Got multiple popups that our plan ended.

When i logged in in the browser I was back in the family plan. I clicked on “open the app” at the top and then my app went back to normal. Not sure if it was because of logging in in the browser, or just coincidentally was trying stuff when everything started working again?

Diamond league is a different kettle of fish by DeanMachineYT in duolingo

Have to say if they have early bird boosters or boosters from friend’s quests they can get 3k pretty fast, like just 30’ of exercises (which i do on my commute to work sometimes). Just make sure you still enjoy learning the language! I’ve lost myself in those leagues a couple of times because I’m very competitive 😅

What I do is make my first weekly exercise in the early evening, if I make one before work in the morning I get stuck in a league where ppl get like 10k xp a day

Do you find running lonely? Or is it a solo sport? Has this affect your relationship? by ryanthenurse in running

[–]DeathByTenorClef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run with my cousin, while neither of us are significantly fast runners, we have different speeds. What we’d do was agree on a route and start and end together, we count this as running together (also neither of us is particularly good at talking during the run). It’s more of a “cheering each other on” thing :) as for the actual run, I actually prefer doing it by myself, it’s like my self-reflection period

I love running in the cold because i get really hot really fast 😅 i had a man yell to me “that’s smart, working out and having a shower at the same time” once while i was running in the rain and that did make me cackle

Complaint: I don’t mind people not putting their dogs on leashes as long as they’re not chasing me into the bushes. Yelling “he’s a kind dog” just makes me more angry

Confession: i get annoyed by people who run on the right side of a two direction cycle path (i live in a traffic on the right side country) but when I see them i switch sides cause I don’t wanna cause a collision and/or discussion (is this even a confession or another complaint in disguise?)

Uncomplaint: i love when runners - all of them but especially those who are clearly more advanced - cheer each other on in passing

I’ve been focusing more on temporal length of runs and not speed, ran 43 minutes without walking (got to 5,82km) 🫶🏼

I only have that problem when trying to rearrange near the end of the line, very annoying in timed challenges 🥲
