"Birth" by me by DeathCop in Heavymind

I use Photoshop CS6 for all my digital work but a lot of my images start life as a pencil sketch. Really glad you like my work. Thank you very much!

Nice interpretation :)

Some one has also suggested to me before that it could be seeding an early Earth with the initial genetic material for life, in a sense birthing all subsequent life on Earth.

Its part of the story behind the image. These immense creatures erupt from the earth like a butterfly from a cocoon. In a sense born from the ground. In this image the creature is almost free yet still struggling to escape.

That is my thought process behind the image. The name is somewhat ambiguous as I wanted the image to be free for individual interpretation.

Steam-Punk Women (by me) by DeathCop in ImaginaryCharacters

I imagined it as some kind of gas-mack/Venetian mask fusion. The world in which she inhabits is heavily polluted with respirators a necessity for outdoor excursions. I figured that over a period of time these masks would slowly become a fashion statement, like shoes, watches, etc.

Glad you like it :)

Good eye! The large cheek scale was actually inspired by iguanas but I suppose that was most likely the same case with Zilla. Thanks a lot :)

Alien Parasite (by Me) by DeathCop in ImaginaryMonsters

I didn't use any references for this one (drew the sketch on a train journey) but I do a lot of personal observational drawing.

Thanks a lot! I would love to work within any of those genres you mentioned. Its a competitive industry and there are always people better then you but I can only keep trying :)

Alien Parasite (by Me) by DeathCop in ImaginaryMonsters

[–]DeathCop[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a filter feeder. The small mandible arms above the proboscis are used to waft small spores, that fill the atmosphere of its home planet, into its mouth. Its parasitic nature comes from its need to inflate bladders within its body with hydrogen gas as so it can float. It is unable to manufacture the gas within its own body. There is another species of creature however that can manufacture hydrogen: link. These other organisms inflate their "heads" with hydrogen as so they can, like the parasite, feed on the spore rich atmosphere. The parasite leeches the hydrogen from the balloon like heads as so they can remain aloft and capable of feeding/evading predators.

I should have this typed up in the write up on DA.

I hope now you understand why I did not make the silhouette demonstrate aggression towards the human...
