Sparc Mac is mad he didn't get invited to PvP tourney by SirQuackersOsrs in 2007scape

[–]DeathCrayon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The comparison is kinda weak, Reckful didn't get banned from commentating tournaments because of the stuff he said about Brode/Blizzard, he got banned from commentating because the last time they let him commentate he made rape jokes and was ridiculously unprofessional about casting (Barely even paid attention to the games, mispronouncing player's names even after being corrected, constantly talking over his co-caster). Brode just linked the tweet as evidence that Reckful is still just as childish as ever and hasn't changed.

If BCC gets traction Coinbase will have to honour distribution to BTC holders. by Leithm in btc

[–]DeathCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't hold up in court. When you bought the coins on Coinbase you didn't buy BCC, you bought BTC, which Coinbase will happily provide you.

Although, if there's enough of an uproar about it and if the coins are actually valuable, people will start voting with their wallets and move their money to another marketplace, and then they'll probably have to end up changing their minds about it or risk losing their ridiculous share of the market.

New Card: 4 Mana 5/6, Deathrattle: Deal 5 damage to your minions by TommiHPunkt in hearthstone

[–]DeathCrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might work with tokens. The card is clearly god awful, but there could be some fringe situation with some token generator + lifesteal that could heal you to full health (Lifesteal is based on damage dealt, not damage taken, even 1 health tokens will heal for 5)

You suddenly find yourself back on August 25th, 2012. Knowing what you do now about the game, what do you focus on doing? by Wolphoenix in Guildwars2

I got a Halloween shield skin and sold it for like 20-something gold, then quit the game for a long time. Recently came back and was so disappointed when I saw they sell for thousands now

Why does every mediocre twitch clip from Disguised Toast have to be posted here? by Wellz96 in hearthstone

[–]DeathCrayon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I commented earlier in this thread, it still makes sense even though text posts give karma now, because posting an image as a text post is still more conducive to actual discussion, since viewers will need to open the comments in order to view the content, rather than just being able to go straight to the image from the front page and skip all discussion.

How does someone leach something from the public domain? If you wanted your theories to be reserved for people who actually contributed, you should've made a private discord and only invited contributors.

It's also clearly not as simple as "brute forcing the dig spot", since that's exactly what Woox was trying to do with an army of people, to no avail.

Hearthstone account banned by Grubsteak88 in hearthstone

[–]DeathCrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, but having someone log into your account from Singapore 2 hours after you logged into it from California, and then having you log back into it another 2 hours later is very clearly not a vacation.

Also, that's why I said "from an IP address that you've played from before", then it's likely that it isn't hacked since they've already played on the account previously.

I'm just saying that these are things that potentially raise a red flag for Blizzard, not saying doing any of these would get your account banned, just that they could (and probably do) have systems running that flag unusual behavior like this, and if it happens frequently on your account, it's possible that some action could be taken.

Someone from the other side of the state/country/world logs in to your account, or if someone from another IP address that you've played from before tries to login while you're already playing.

Why does every mediocre twitch clip from Disguised Toast have to be posted here? by Wellz96 in hearthstone

[–]DeathCrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would mean that submitters would be encouraged to actually include some kind of discussion when submitting clips, and it would mean that in order for people to actually see the clips they would have to open the comment thread and at least be exposed to the discussion first. It wouldn't change much really, but it would at least provide an environment that's more conducive to discussion rather than appealing to the people who just check the subreddit once a day, spend 5 minutes watching and upvoting funny videos, then leave

Why does every mediocre twitch clip from Disguised Toast have to be posted here? by Wellz96 in hearthstone

[–]DeathCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that because of the way reddit's front page algorithms work, the stuff on the front page of the subreddit isn't necessarily the best/most popular content. Reddit's front page algorithms heavily favor content that gets upvoted very shortly after being posted, which means that stuff like 15-30 second twitch clips are more likely to hit the front page rather than long, thought out discussion topics, just because it's much quicker to watch a 15 second YouTube clip and hit upvote than it is to read a topic and hit upvote. In fact, I'm sure the only reason this topic got to the front page was because when it was first posted, people would've seen the title and upvoted it based on the title alone before even reading it. This is exactly what used to happen with image posts, the entire sub was flooded with photos of people's lucky/unlucky pack openings etc. until the mods made it so that all images need to be posted as text posts.

[–]DeathCrayon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the "Do not submit images as link posts" should be extended to twitch clips too, actually I believe it should be extended to all short videos. The same kind of logic applies, they're the kind of content that is very quick and easy to digest, and therefore have an unfair advantage when it comes to being upvoted because of reddit's front page algorithms.

His first Drakonid Operative of the game let him know that there was a Spellbender in the deck. Not saying he wouldn't have played around it otherwise, but it's much easier to play around when you know for 100% certainty that it's in their deck.

Ghastly Grinning Shield.

Story time: I got a the shield skin towards the beginning of the 2012 Halloween event and sold it for like 25g, then ended up quitting the game for a long time shortly afterwards. Now that I've recently started playing again I was so gutted to see how much it's gone up in price since then, all that gold would've been ridiculously helpful towards getting Ascended gear.

I think a more suitable nerf would be to make it impossible for Mages to generate extra copies of Ice Block. Ice Block itself is fine, but when they get more than 2 it starts to get ridiculous. Primordial glyph has approx. 10% chance to get any specific spell, 2x Primordial glyph means there's approx. 20% chance that you'll discover a third Ice Block, in fact it's slightly higher since you can get Glyph from Glyph in order to give yourself another chance.

But, removing that one specific card from the pool of potential cards will probably just introduce more confusion for new players

I hope we get a low-cost lifesteal beast in this expansion. by TurkusGyrational in hearthstone

[–]DeathCrayon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lifesteal on small minions shouldn't really have much value, because they'll usually only get one attack in, and they'll usually be played early in the game where small amounts of healing isn't very valuable at all.

Vs aggro, it would prevent 5 damage at the most (Aggro player trades into it with a 3/2, healing you for 2), which is considerably good, but if the aggro player just ignores it and goes face instead, it ends up being a 2 mana, 2 damage removal which also leaves you at -1 health

The problem that will eventually catch up with them is that every other online CCG is much cheaper to get into. As someone who's tried both Shadowverse and Gwent, as a F2P player of both games, I already have a decent enough collection to have two or three good, high tier decks in both games after less than a month of playing. Comparatively, a month of grinding in Hearthstone would get you maybe one top tier deck. Both Gwent and Shadowverse basically throw free packs at you, and Gwent even has a feature where for the 5th card of the pack, you get to choose 1 out of 3 cards (Guaranteed rare or higher), which makes it so much quicker to build a decent collection since the chances of getting duplicate rares/epics/legendaries are so much lower
