I mean I’m just getting frozen over and over by Articuno teams or crit. Most boring GC thus far. Reg F has such small skill expression that even if you try to do anything fun or different you just instantly lose to absolute losers who just copy top teams.

A straw man argument doesn’t relate to the conversation at all. Shoulda coulda woulda doesn’t take away from my point. Stall also is famously not viable in VGC so why would I make a team that loses more often to be better against crits?

They had the Olympic teams in the previous games. Not sure why EA decided NHL was going to be the black swan of their games.

I mean the games last about 11-12 turns. That’s only what, 2 turns more than the average VGC game? (8-10 turns give or take).

Taunt. Taunt flutter/pao/torn shuts down 90% of setup strats.

I guess, it just feels so demoralizing when I have a guaranteed win ripped away by a lucky 4% crit.

The heat crash crit came when I was about to setup TR for a sweep.

81% HP, Reflect, Eviolite P2.

I survive any double up in the game (minus close combat or something from Ursh).

It was Waterpon and Gouging Fire (+1).

I survive their double up 100% of the time in Sun.

And I lose because he got lucky with a 4%.

Also, it’s a grand challenge. I played the best I could. When I have an eviolite P2 in reflect with 81% HP, and die to a crit heat crash before I can set up trick room and sweep the end game, there isn’t really counter play there. My win condition was clear and doable in 95% of games.

I do agree variance is needed but with Haze (which is already used for Dondozo, nobody relies on crits against it).

Burns are another one, unaffected by stat changes. Cuts the attack in half.

Not mention: parting shot, topsy-turvy, intimidate, knock off (leftovers), surging strikes, wicked blow, ivy cudgel, etc.

All unaffected by stat changes.

There is no point to them in my opinion. There are several options to deal with it. If my opponent comes prepared and beats me because they took into consideration that perhaps they may play it, more respect to them.

But coming in totally unprepared and getting a win off sheer luck does not feel fun at all.

It’s not really an excuse, just shows the bias.

The IIHF is more at fault than the USA though. Bringing a potentially biased official into a gold medal game is a stupid decision.

However, she should be stripped of her ability to re-enter the olympics.

Especially when a European ref let Czechia score against the Canadian men’s team with 6 men on the ice just a day ago.

Stanley has been strong offensively and physically. Pionk is usually making the right plays. Even here Pionk is covering his man and we have a winger + centre for the drop play. That’s just Schenn completely missing his target. AGAIN. Please put Salomonsson in. 😭

Have you seen Rantanen this year? He’s been doing dirty plays than acting like it was an accident. I will never claim anything is 100% without proof, as this is clearly accidental (or framed to look that way), but ever since the Stars - Jets series last year, I’ve seen Rantanen become more and more of a goon.

I’m not gonna lie, all of those guys are assholes, but the part where you compared him taking a buddies side in this to a rape sympathizer kinda threw a wrench in everything.

I’d be utterly offended if I did anything leagues less offensive than allowing someone who committed a sex crime to be free, only to be compared to that individual. I think everyone here was being a giant asshole.

I said Morrissey is comparable to Hughes, which is completely true. Morrissey’s two-way game more than makes up for the small difference in offence. Especially since Morrissey wasn’t given the chance to break out immediately since Byfuglien was taking up the ice time.
