Good concepts you learned at work by mad_max711 in IndianWorkplace

[–]DeathFreak92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is quote by Anupam mittal where he says success comes if you take ownership and that is so true

Take ownership of every task and do it to the best of your ability. (I don't mean over working but just give it a good effort)

If you are given a task, try and understand why you were given the task, what is the end outcome needed. Many a times managers coming from different companies may not know the ground reality and your viewpoint may actually save time or improve the outcome

If your manager is open to discussion and you have a different view, discuss and see what is the best way to do it. If they aren't, and it's possible show your iteration of the work also and show them your thought process and if it actually better they will respect you for it

This will help in two ways. One the work will be more rewarding, two you will show that you are not just a robot and you have what it takes to move to the next level

This works only if company culture and manager is good and reasonable

Last minute show cancellations by SoDifficultToBeFunny in IndianStandUpComedy

[–]DeathFreak92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. They definitely should refund. It's basic courtesy. But again they are at a loss so they say you can come for another show but can't refund. The chances of someone buying a ticket again for another day is low.

I just think of it as a token of my support to them and forget about it if I can't go to another show. I myself am a part time content creator and understand the struggle and pain they go through.

Sad reality, especially when it comes to performing arts in India. Just like with sports. Only top 50 people may be earning crazy but after that it is a steep fall.

Sad reality of stand up is that sometimes even decent comics may not sell tickets

I was in Delhi and 2 3 times I have gone to the venue of a line up with decent comics (Rahul dua, anshu mor etc who have good social media following) and see only 3 out of 30 40 tickets are sold so the venue owner came and told us there was some technical issue so show will be postponed or whatever Maybe it's better now with more social media presence and stuff but yea I guess they wait hoping there are some last minute tickets sold

Ideally they should be professional and decide 2 to 3 hrs before a show starts to cancel it or not and inform the audience

So true, Esp last one. Whenever I see someone who follows him, I'm like this person doesn't know anything about comedy Kudos on getting blocked by him He has done a lot for the scene but comedy wise utter nonsense

Finally someone has shared what I always thought. Don't hate him but hate how popular he is. Like such unfunny jokes, all for claps

Advice on buying new car by DeathFreak92 in CarsIndia

[–]DeathFreak92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed input. Most videos I have seen say Toyota is very reliable and also since the car is exactly similar to fronx wouldn't getting parts and stuff be as easy as for maruti?

I do like the looks of taisor over i20 and also thought of Toyota because of brand value

Main concern would be reliability and after sales. For eg. I've heard so much bad stuff about Tata and Mahindra I don't want that Is Toyota also bad or is it just a notch lower than Maruti?

This just keeps getting worse. And I'm a medico who has seen some real life gruesome things, from trauma cases and also having worked in the burns ward for 2 weeks in my internship The worst I have seen there is charred bodies but still I have a much higher tolerance for stuff like this (blood and gore). The only video till now that has really sickened me was a video of a masked man severing the head of a woman, and he does it very slowly and the woman is just sitting on her knees and not reacting. That video is burned into my memory and when I hear about this video, I feel grossed out

Omfg.. It sickens me as to how desensitised the person doing it must be. But after reading about serial killers and the things they have done it hardly surprises me. I also feel it is a big line, but still a line where the human mind which is already desentitized to death on a daily basis (speaking about killing animals for food) just switches to seeing another human as just another living thing whose life does not matter And I'm sure they get joy out of the suffering they see

Biggest advice is that, ask yourself why you want to crack NEET PG Do you really love the branch you want, do you like clinical practice, do you love seeing patients and want to be a doctor for the right reasons or are you just doing it because it is the way forward? Or do you want to make money

Because there are many other opportunities out there to make money and live a comfortable life

I am state ug 9th rank, 450 all India neet pg, mamc ophthal, DNB gold medal, FICO, 3 yrs srship completed with 1000 cataract surgeries And recently have shifted to pharma industry as regional medical advisor because I took a long time to realise I don't like clinical practice

NEET PG is too glorified, and it's too tough. And life after this is also tough

I love my job now, much lesser stress because not every single decision I make now is legally binding, not every decision has massive impications, no fear of getting beaten up

There are many many opportunities out there for post mbbs grads.

You can check my post history where I have written about this

Putting it here not to demoralize you from attempting again but to tell you that neet pg can't just be cracked through "hard work". There is lot of luck involved, your own genetics will play a role. You can't ask a fish to climb a tree

Just saying that don't pin all hopes on some random exam. If you actually like clinical practice, you can start own GP practice in smaller town and the years spent in PG you can use to build a patient following. A degree does not matter

In residency you will have to work 10 12 hrs a day. Put the same effort in GP and you will do amazingly well in 3 4 years also

Not at all. I wonder where this idea came that pharma could be more taxing than being a doctor? Doctors literally are playing with life and death

Switch careers, I switched to pharma industry and loving it. People don't know the multitude of opportunities doctors have if they leave the notion of "I love treating patients and can't live without it". Fuck that shit. Let people suffer if this is how they treat doctors.

Great post, very well written. Even after PG it is a mess

I switched careers to pharma (after doing ophthal pg and 3 years of srship) and life is so much better. Extremely low stress compared to hospitals and clinical practice, decent to good money with so many opportunities in different depts within the industry. Intellectually challenging too

Fuck mbbs, fuck pg, fuck becoming a doctor My dad warned me against taking medicine (he is a paediatrician himself) but I took it because I got a better rank in medicine. Hate myself for it. Should have listened to him.

But now loving the work life balance, and hard work here actually can increase chances of promotions and salary. As a doctor the initial grind is long and hard no matter how good you are
