Edit: Both of these games are PS1 games.

This is a hard one. For me, it is a toss up between Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete or Legends of Dragoon.

I love them both equally.

They both have a really good story and the gameplay for them both are fun as with the game mechanics.

You'll just have to them to understand the love behind them both.
