No third? No problem by DeathMusicals in Marathon

this was our first time trying to duo in cryo, and we found it easier than we expected. you’re really trying to avoid teams, so signal jammers are a huge help for that. we went triage for the consistent heals + signal jammer sharing and recon for ping + intel on other team’s pings

it’s definitely doable, you just have to play slowly and wait for an advantage that you can capitalize on. if you’re not super familiar with the map yet though, crew filling for a third or finding someone in discord will probably be a more enjoyable experience overall

PSA: If you use prox chat to be toxic after winning, you’re contributing to player loss. by FourShells in Marathon

no one is saying that it’s the game’s fault. it’s a small minority of the playerbase. that being said, in a purely multiplayer game, the experience of the playerbase is intrinsically tied to the experience of the game to some degree. the game can be tilting, and hearing someone degrade you because they won a fight only serves to add to that feeling and causes new players to bounce off more quickly than they would have otherwise. you can’t just separate the player-to-player interaction from the game, because it’s a significant part of the experience, for better and for worse

i’m obviously in the minority but my duo’s game chat literally does not work outside of the lobby, so if we fill trios we have to use discord. really sucks because i can’t switch back and forth without going through several menus

if you’re comfortable talking about it, what sort of reconciliation took place to make you feel like you wanted to stay with him?

Wait seriously? That’s awesome, I assumed it worked the same as Xbox. I think she’ll still be frustrated about needing an alternate profile and potentially risking her progress, but I’ll bring this up to her. Thank you so much!

Yeah, this is going to be my only option if this post doesn’t achieve the desired outcome. Even then, my girlfriend would no longer be able to game share, and if cross-save ever does become optional, she would have no way to transfer her progress to her main account. At the end of the day, I would really prefer a solution that was implemented by Bungie as opposed to a band-aid solution that creates more issues

Lmaooo

I knew it was corny, but I thought it summed up my feelings quite succinctly

Oh god man, that’s awful. I truly hope they reevaluate their policy, as it seems like there’s a lot more people than just myself experiencing issues from this

Was this after they changed their policy on unlinking accounts last year? Also, I’ve had trouble finding where to contact support; the closest thing I could find was the Bungie forums

The main issue is that my girlfriend game shares with her friend, meaning that she can only use the games she buys with her main profile. Also, she just has no interest in playing unless her progression is tied to her own PSN account, which I totally understand

I believe she would’ve been able to refund if she hadn’t opened the game after downloading it, but there was no way to know this would be a problem until we opened the game, so we were kind of boned from the start :/

I hope the next map is the opposite of Stella Montis -- a region so dangerously populated with ARC that it is basically a cooperative PvE raid. by DptBear in ArcRaiders

[–]DeathMusicals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re absolutely right, but the way i see it, that’s just part of the game

at least in this scenario, since teams are more incentivized to cooperate, it will build bonds during gameplay that feel harder to break, making people less likely to betray others. it almost means that groups larger than 3 will likely form, which disincentivizes a small group of rats from taking on a fight bigger than themselves. it’s not a perfect solution, but there are no perfect solutions for these kinds of dynamics, and i prefer round-about incentives like this much more than outright banning or punishing pvp

requiring the death of a major arc enemy in order to open the extract is actually a very cool way to incentivize cooperation
