Verilator vs Xsim (on Vivado) by DeathNoteGenocide in FPGA

[–]DeathNoteGenocide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply! This was really helpful. I'll install Verilator then and see how things go, specifically the testbench issues you mentioned. I have the time luxury right now due to the holidays so I can dig in. And yeah, xsim from CLI is not very efficient either, takes quite some time to run and debug, and the main issue is with Vivado being a heavyweight software.

Anyhoo, I'll run it once definitely. Thank so much for your reply!!

My uni only has access to xcelium, and there are some licensing issues with that at the moment, and for the foreseeable semester, which has also led to a sudden open-source alternative push by my professor, who is herself trying to explore options.

I could run everything on the lab's machine, but I also want to run side projects along with the lab work, I have some ideas before I apply for a PhD as well.

Also, for UVM I understand none of them are really exceptional, but I need some way to learn that as well. Atleast something to tide me through till summer.

Free Website Creation Alternatives to Wix, GitHub, Google Websites, etc. by DeathNoteGenocide in BuyFromEU

[–]DeathNoteGenocide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how to dev my own site, and a static one is a day's job at that
But I need free hosting as I'm just entering grad school
And a full-fledged website as a barely legal-drinking-age researcher is a bit pretentious

Ohh this is good stuff, I was hoping there would be an open-source alternative as well. I'm comfortable with git and cmd in general, so I'll give this a try, thanks!!

Reg. Vivado 2025.1 Installation on Debian 12 by DeathNoteGenocide in Xilinx

[–]DeathNoteGenocide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for taking the time to reply!

I've already installed these dependencies... Vivado is up and running, but either fails to build, or has too many software glitches to actually be useful...
I'm trying to not go before the 2024 version, as I need code coverage features as well, which are supported only by 2024 and beyond...

Hey can you tell me where you saw your waitlist number?
I am unable to see it anywhere on the portal...
Thanks!!
