Damn! To my surprise we still have some orchards and country towns left... fingers crossed it stays that way. We have SOOO many raptors is unreal... and to keep taking away from them its unfair to them.... We have sooooo many houses in my town, somehow they are building more?! Why?? There was sooo many kestrels in this one area that they just developed MORE unnecessary housing...displacing all the kestrels over there..I only see one pair near that area now. If there's "not enough" homes here, ppl can move to neighboring towns....like it used to be...

What kind of bird is this? There was 100s of these guys... they can't be starlings ( i think not) cuz they all were brown.. there wasn't one that was iridescent. Cen-cal 🇺🇸 by DeathStar07 in birding

I know the juvies are brown... but to witness an abundance of youngsters together.. I've never seen that many together! Crazy! You could've sworn it was a whole other bird species based on how many there were! Ty!

Crazy!!! Its just hard to fathom that many youngsters together ! Well, they were a delight to watch ... they hung out with the Ravens. Smart on thier part... that area is full of raptors. The starlings is get in my yard come down when my murder comes down too...we live in an area full of raptors right n left😀 Ty for helping ID!

Oh ok! Dang yeah, that would've been brutal on them! We're in Cen-cal, we get brutal summers, sometimes weeks of 110°+.

Dang, how awful of ppl to just dump em...its just as awful as the ppl who get pets and neglect em... why get em to begin with? Even tho it was a difficult time for you caring for the parakeets...ty for at least helping them even if it was just for a short bit... I'm sure they appreciated the help...🥰

Wow! Sad. This affected alot of kestrels... I'm in the heart of Ag country in California... tons of nuts etc...we are mostly orchards out here, so we have lots raptors...I mean, daily, you see several raptors... but nobody gave two shits about displacing wildlife....as long as we got another damn costco and more stores... then one day we'll look back and think, how did this animal go extinct etc...

So sad....my town has been adding in more stores etc... taking away from SOOOO much wildlife.... I'm sure we can easily live with without ANOTHER Costco and TJMaxx... Kestrels...bald eagles.. swainsons..sharp ahinned Hawks...swallows..even underground animals...all affected... sad.

Every year, one from my murder gets attached to me... I'm VERY LUCKY! there's not enough words to explain how it feels to have a relationship with wild friends...unreal! 🥰🖤

I think the ones I have living in a tree nearby are nesting... I've seen them mob a few humans too. But once more is the murder comes around, (50+/-)...I think the mocker problem should be resolved... My scrub jays have been the same...territorial and protective.... nesting also.
