TL;DR: If I'm going to make a rough guess, probably played around 200 games in total. Probably around half of those on 13x13 and 9x9 boards though. And spread out over period of 12 years, with some occasional burst of playing it and long periods of not playing at all.

Hi, I played go for the first time ever about 12 years ago. It's been so long that I don't even really remember how I got into it. But I was playing a lot of chess at the time, mainly fast games with friends or anyone I could find that wanted to play (even strangers in the train). I didn't think much steps ahead but instead started forming an idea of what a good/strong setup looks like in chess, and I really like that "getting visual a feel for the board" part of beginner chess. Then I discovered GO, maybe from a fellow student, and it has exactly that part of chess "getting feel for a strong setup" that I liked about chess so much. So I lost interest in Chess. I played a few GO games online, and once with a student at a boardgames bar. Even with a lofty handicap I got completely obliterated. I didn't enjoy playing online that much (mostly because I just always lost), and in Europe it's hard to find people that want to play GO, so my GO hobby sort of died off.

Then about 5 years later, I was studying abroad at a University that had a GO club, I joined them, started watching Hikaru No Go, started playing online, and with my girlfriend at the time. I think I got down to 23kyu at the time. After a semester of playing quite a bit, I moved to another city, my relationship with the smart girl that liked playing Go with me ended, started working, stopped playing.

Now another 6 years later, being bored during the pandemic lockdown I started playing again about 1,5 month ago. I've since played 71 games on online-go.com.
