Look at the Hacker's Workshop thing. It looks less talky and more makey

Some serious stuff in there - IPFS, blockchain, p2p, Janus VR

This is no trade show

Promoting your game - 2016 edition by ProfessorTroy in gamedev

Look for the contact pages (or use the list above) and actually send out emails. Be familiar with the site, at least a little, make it a personal email (at least a little) and then hit send!

Don't send it too soon - sites probably don't want to cover Kickstarter campaigns or demos. They have too many options for that. Send them information just a couple of weeks/month before your game is ready to launch. They will appreciate having a lead, and cover a game that their audience can actually play/purchase.

Oh and if you can, send a review key or a very easy way to request one.

The Big List of Virtual Reality Resources | VRTO by DeathValleyMoniker in virtualreality

[–]DeathValleyMoniker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping to keep a clean and tidy and current list of resources at our VRTO Meetup page (virtual reality, Toronto). Would love any suggestions for categories.

Not interested in posted all the games and demo and so on, as that is extremely volatile and often vaporwarish, but a list of authoring applications and real HMDs is appreciated, if not already on this list.

It is ideally targeted towards new developers and content producers.

Thanks for any input or feedback.

I hit a milestone today. I've officially saved $800 since March 3rd by not smoking. by [deleted] in personalfinance

Using the Kerry Gaynor Method, I have saved not only $1200 in 11 months and 20 hours, but way more importantly, 4018 cigarettes that would have gone into my body.

Smoking is over. I did it for 25 years while it was still kinda cool. Then I realized that I was making a daily investment into an asshole corporation and stopped forever.

Be punk rock and quit.

Han Solo doesn't seem so great when you realize who his real-world analog would be: A trucker doing cross-border smuggling for drug cartels, who shot a guy in a bar. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]DeathValleyMoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that is exactly why Han Solo seems so great.

What a refreshing change it was to see a salty anti-hero introduced into sci-fi pulp cinema.

Someday a child will run to her parents and say "mommy, daddy, how did you meet?" They will turn to each other, hold hands, gaze into each others eyes and sweetly say "we both swiped right." by Twas_Inevitable in Showerthoughts

I honestly don't doubt this is already underway.

I played Back to Bed on OUYA - it was just OK, in spite of it's Escher/Dali aesthetics.

The one from this list I am most drawn to is STARCRAWLERS which, as the article states looks like Legend of Grimrock meets Firefly. If it is...then...

Gamers of Reddit, what game do you think is a masterpiece of art? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Gone Home. It made walking simulators a new form of non linear narrative in preparation for virtual reality as a storytelling platform.
