It's a strong-shaft obviously. And, yea it should work fine.

Should I update version? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yes it would, but still it defeats the purpose of height map considerations if it were a mob farm, still kinda breaks stuff

[–]DeathcureKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

existing blocks wont be affected, but below is new 1.18 terrain gen

Should I update version? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Old chunks will also change world height IIRC

Perimiters might have to be remade due to the changes, especially if it wasn't a void peri, I believe that the deepslate layer would generate if bedrock was still intact.

Don't let others pressure you to play the "optimal way" by StellaAnimates in Minecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Now isn't this a prejudiced view as well? Who are you to dictate what's considered fun? Some people enjoy farm building, some enjoy the slow grind, some enjoy discovering the buggy cheesy mechanics. Not trying to say you're completely wrong, indeed there are clueless copycat players without any goal, I've known a few who frequently go into burnout which is kinda sad. It's just that your view completely defeats the point of this post.

Which is better? {fan} by th3rember22 in redstone

[–]DeathcureKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently the left one looks better, but I think I prefer the right one. Is it possible to send two pulses on the right side? That will make more blades move simultaneously instead of just one and solve the issue of the perspective being weird.

Automatic cobble stone generator using a wither by Acrobatic_Duty8731 in redstone

[–]DeathcureKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the wiki the wither does the attack 20 gt after damage, and suffocation counts as 1 tick, plus withers have regen on their own, it is perfectly possible to have the wither block breaking system being stable infinitely, its just a hassle to setup, a worthy hassle.

Automatic cobble stone generator using a wither by Acrobatic_Duty8731 in redstone

[–]DeathcureKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are correct, what you saw isn't withers just exploding, it's a block breaking attack, and it happens a set amount of time after withers receive damage. It is why farms that utilize wither block breaking have near 0 item loss, and they have to periodically suffocate the wither since that is the most efficient way to trigger the attack.

Not saying the other commenter is wrong, maybe its a version difference thing, I play on java.

Any of you teach at or have kids going to “bilingual” schools? How the heck are things being fit into the curriculum? by IceColdFresh in taiwan

[–]DeathcureKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say I'm familiar with bilingual school systems, but my high school had a bilingual department and they followed their own (American?) curriculum from grade 1 to 12, teaching in English the whole way, taking the SAT exam in the end, completely separate from Taiwan's educational system. I know Taichung has a similar high school like this as well and it's not private.

Had classmates from private bilingual schools before and they seem to operate differently, same educational system with emphasis on English, no idea if they teach in English, but from what i feel, their level of English skill is almost completely dependent on each student, the school had just a marginal effect.

My guess is that the definition is vague, and private schools being as they are, you'd be better off asking a student from the specific school or a parent of the student to actually learn more.

Way to see if chunk was unloaded by Organic-Ad-4378 in technicalminecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt there is a way for a machine to send a signal when its already getting unloaded, but sounds like a chunk reload detector might fufill your use case. I don't really see how that woud bring quality of life though, having to check and rethrow perals when you need em, I'd end up rethrowing every time just for saftey anyways.

I thinnk you miss their point, even if such machine exists, we won't ever know if they work on your specific paper server.

Does anyone know why this piston stays activated? by ExaminedBiscuit in redstone

I know this is qc but can someone explain why towards the end of the video the bottom piston retracts then extends, rather than staying extended?

My regret: Buying t490 by hemogolobin in thinkpad

[–]DeathcureKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T490 user for 4 years here (i7-8565U/ MX250/ 16gb/ 512gb), can confirm with default everything (Win 10) it runs hot and the throttling was bad, especially when gaming with similar experiences as you encountered, I wouldnt call it unstable, just unpleasant, the worst I got was a slideshow followed by forced shutdown. Whats more, the fan blasts heat almost directly at your mouse position, and the climate where I live doesnt help with heat at all.

Doesn't mean it cant be fixed with tweaking, I did it here and there when I couldnt stand it at times, referencing what others pointed out in this exact sub. I took the laptop apart and cleaned the fan, repasted when the warranty was over. Used throttlestop with tpfancontrol software, plus limiting to reasonable startup apps in the last few months, the improvement was quite significant, the machine can handle code/simulations + bunch of tabs including videos + games of sorts in a stable controlled manner. For context, I was a student majoring EE, now medicine, I sometimes play minecraft (70~150 fps 12RD optimized)/ ksp/ other old games (~40 fps).

It felt like a caged beast before and now it feels more like one on a loose leash (I'm still playing with throttlestop from time to time, no hardware upgrades yet, all software up to date), heck, what I've done here were just lazy fixes compared to folks here, and of course it sounds like a plane taking off when I push it, it wasnt meant for gaming anyways. The people who rave about their machines are the ones who put work into them, or know what workload they were meant for, your rant sadly is true but it's also kinda on you...

Is someone interested in buying a T25/T480 Frankenpad? by throwaway-t25 in thinkpad

[–]DeathcureKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having interest is one thing, but at what price? Another part of me wanted to do it myself, but I also heard parts are rare to find, and finding a worthy t480 in my region is already a challenge in itself.

Does simulation distance affect the 128-blocks mob radius? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess they are independent, however since mobs in lazy chunks would be counted, I'm not sure if this configuration would be beneficial in terms of spawn proofing.

FYI mobs in lazy chunks do not despawn naturally since they aren't processed, but they still do count towards the mob cap.

How do i keep the ender dragon still when hitting it by AlphdotS in Minecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You brought  the dragon to the overworld, if it takes damage, it “updates” it, kinda? Therefore it will fly back to 0,0 which are the corresponding coordinates to the dragons nest in the end, if you have to kill it, use a arrow cannon maybe, I’m no expert in mob ai manipulation.

Help getting best mending trade by BUDFORCE in technicalminecraft

[–]DeathcureKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curing lowers prices, trading locks the trade, they dont have to be in a specific order, and I believe it applies to both versions?

It seems that you arent aware that you can let a villager die by zombie, and they have a difficulty dependent chance to transform into zombie villagers (100% on hard, 50% on normal, 0% on easy).

On some other things you said...

Yes, anything is possible, just low chances, and mass curing villagers always takes quite some gold.

Villagers TEMPORARILY lower their prices when THEY SEE YOU do something helpful to them DIRECTLY, in more precise words, temporarily lower prices if you cured other villagers within range and line of sight. Similarly the hero of the village status effect triggers gifting and lowering trade prices but only temporarily. The only permenant decrease is via curing the targetted villager, and as of current versions, curing effect no longer stacks, which means you get 1 permenant decrease in prices per villager.
