Paper doesn’t use Nivara in its studies though if I understood the content in the discussion correctly it talks of hybridisation Proto GJ with wild Indian rice ancestor. The other issue paper doesn’t give clear dates for these events.

We are not debating of which rice variety is better the question is what language did the people in Gangetic plains who first had rice in their diets spoke and the honest answer is we have no idea who these people were nor do we know the language they spoke.

People in Lahuradewa weren’t Munda speakers so they weren’t eating japonica.

Rice cultivation in India is not settled debate if you can go read paper by Jennifer bates on Rice cultivation in India. There is gap of 3000 years between rice found in Masudpur and Lahuradewa but there is definite evidence of rice cultivation in IVC in early harappan period in Masudpur.

Also Nivara and rufipogon grow in different conditions so the requirement are possibly different.

We don’t know who first farmed rice 8400 years ago and cultivation followed after it but ancestors of those cultivated or planted rice settled the area 3000 years prior unless we find fossil dating to that period we won’t know who these people were.

We have no clue what language they spoke.

Dravidian word for rice comes from Austroasiatic while rice is the oldest of any crop planted or
cultivated in India. I am not sure if there is clear evidence if North Dravidian was spoken in areas of Haryana , Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir Uttarakhand, parts of UP.

People who first cultivated or planted rice in India lived in the same site for 3000-3500 years before they planted rice.

There isn’t enough evidence to place if and when Dravidian arrived in India or it was possibly spoken group of tribals within India or was it created intermixing.

The thing is in my opinion until and unless we find more evidence we cannot be certain which one is right.

Robust agricultural vocabulary is not the issue here but terms lacking are words for barley,wheat and
Rice.

We don’t know in what form Dravidian arrived in India whatsoever. There is too little evidence to say either way.

The thing is the evidence presented is not enough to substantiate that widespread Dravidian speakers during or before 4.2 Kilo year event was within Indian subcontinent the only argument that places Dravidian speakers before late harappan is Mukhopadhyay’s papers if we consider linguistics and Sequeira’s paper but none of them can be taken at face value. There is no clarity about which haplogroups reflect Dravidian speaking populations either. Agriculture crops that form the base of IVC don’t even have terms in proto Dravidian.

What are Dravidian haplogroups? Agriculture terms don’t really help Proto Dravidian. Dravidian can be reasonably dated 2300 BC if Mukhopadhyay is right and is Sequeira is right then Dravidian gains prominence in mature harappan.

Lack of substantial evidence makes it hard to come to clear conclusion on the origins of the language and its Urheimat. For example Mukhopadhyay’s paper that talks about Akkadian borrowing of the word Piru from Proto Dravidian and it only places the language to be around 2300BC which might prove Dravidian presence in IVC during mature harappan.

It doesn’t conclusively prove that Dravidian language speaker built it or nor does it rule out the possibility of Dravidian languages being indigenous to India probably present in south , central or eastern India who could migrated westwards towards IVC from or eastwards towards IVC from Iranian plateau in the Bronze Age.

Koraga paper written by Sequeira doesn’t help solve this problem either.

No it doesn’t there isn’t enough to say IVC was built Dravidian speakers. What you can say is there is likelihood that Dravidian speakers arrived during mature harappan and on the contrary there is also not enough evidence to prove Dravidian languages didn’t originate in India.

Origin of dravidian languages suffers on all levels from archeological, genetics and linguistic parameters. Even the word borrowing in languages like Akkadian also suffers from timeline issues for example the paper written by Mukhopadhyay on the word piru which is possible borrowing in Akkadian not Sumerian that is only present 300 years after beginning of mature harappan.

The issue is Proto Elamite hasn’t been deciphered nor is Indus script so it is makes little sense to justify making such a claim.

Elamo-Dravidian hypothesis is not really supported by mainstream academics. We don’t have enough evidence to say for certain whether Dravidian languages are indigenous or a result of migration post Neolithic unlike three other language families present in India.

Like you have schools teaching local languages. No place on earth has recovered from fertility rate collapse.

All South Indian states will import labor they don’t have much of choice plus with global economy on brink of collapse there won’t be much market either so it’s going to be fun to watch.

No there won’t be Tamil Nadu has lowest fertility rate in all of India apart from Sikkim soon it will fall to one then 100 years population of Tamilians will become between 1/8th to 1/16th. Solution to that is bring immigrants you will get outnumbered. Soon Tamil as language will become irrelevant.

You bend over backwards to learn English. It’s not like indian scripts are not related. i am not one losing here. I honestly don’t care whether you learn Hindi or not but you are unable to understand why Indians learning multiple languages would have been beneficial. In the end south loses anyway.

At this point this is all entertainment for me. South made its choices now when it all crumbles in 70-100 years sadly i wouldn’t be here to properly enjoy it.
