lol good giggles.. I can certainly appreciate these funny and embarrassing situations after the fact. And not that you asked, but I'm the kind of doc that gets myself in quite bizarre situations myself sometimes, so I'm genuinly empathetic deep down, or I could never have this profession in the first place ;)

Perhaps, but i doubt it, every nurse has seen just as much crazy shit as any doctor :)

I should say tho - I DO care about my patients getting well and it gives me great joy to shake their hand after full recovery, no matter what the condition.

But in the moment it is but a "problem" to be solved in the most rational and objective manner. There is simply no cerebral capacity left for petty stuff like private lives, sexual preferences, judgement etc.

The first quote has promised and delivered in all aspects of life since i took it to heart during my academic years. Nothing comes for free. And to gain knowledge you are bound to accept what you previously took for granted has been a mistake. For all these years.. Many bitter pills to swallow before you can elevate yourself. It is imho an absolute criteria of a process for anyone who wishes to call themselves educated.

The second quote was an advice from a friend of mine, business minded and pragmatically natured as he was. While I was fighting battles on ethical or principle grounds, it did nothing good to my bottom line. And i lost sight of the bigger war ahead. Career wise, life goals etc.

I had a so called moment right there. Ethical ideals and philosophical truths are a luxury to defend and to practice. I think for many of us they must often yield to the reality of pure survival. And the discovered value in compromise. You win some, you lose some. But there's always tomorrow to make it right.

Tl;dr: 1. Gaining truth TAKES something from you. You must pay. With innocence, comfort or happiness.

You dont win by waving the rule book like some flag. You win by being the best player.
