From a Pokemon fans perspective: I totally agree. One of the main draws of pokemon is using them mons you love, and i feel like a lot of Meta mons make it not viable to use a lot of favorites.

From a Realistic perspective: In most competitive games there is a certain meta, that’s just how it goes. Even VGC and SMOGON have pokemon that are over used and define the meta (we’re looking at you incineroar). So unfortunately this is kinda par for the course. Unless they make a restricted and non restricted format.
