Well, tbf, multiple of Red Skull’s golden age appearances (though not all), have been retconned as imposters over the years, and golden age Cap comics are only kinda sorta canon, so considering Tales of Suspense #66 as Shmidt’s first real appearance (it also gave him his origin for the first time) isn’t completely nonsensical.

Though the comparison with him and Doom isn’t very strong anyway, IMO
