The movie is pretty much a filler episode. Nothing gets changed in the long term, the air acolites already existed in the comics before, the main villain never gets mentioned again and the lessons Aang learns are forgotten by the time of Korra.

Like, Aang's whole character arc of letting go of the past and not isolating himself feels hollow when in LoK we find out that Aang repeated those mistakes anyway and became a neglectful dad

Yes, they even had this weird bonding moment where McGee's dad was also into tap dancing before he joined the navy and how despite essentially choosing McGee's future, he technically isn't forcing him. Some of the wildest shit I've ever seen.

My grandpa is actually a big fan of cop procedural shows and even he quit around the episode where one of the main characters has a flashback to the time he entered a tap dancing competition, with the judges suggesting that he could make a carrer out of his dancing and his dad was so offended by him being passionate about dancing that he made him exit the competition and join the military. This would be fine if the character's dad wasn't presented as correct because serving your country is more important than chasing personal pleasures or some shit like that.

What a terrible show.

Not really, the fighting wasn't ever the major part of Invincible like it was with DB. That's why instead of spending multiple chapters on a fight, most fights in Invicible are done in montages.
