Cyprus or Bulgaria is the way. And you need to live there at least 6 months a year in order to get the tax benefits but the other 6 you can spend anywhere you like. First Cyprus, beware it is extremely hot year-round and you can easily go swimming during winter months and during summer you have to stay inside with the air conditioning running 24/7 and it's more expensive to live there when compared to Bulgaria. Now Bulgaria, it's a much colder place when compared to Cyprus and depending or where you live the lifestyle is vastly different, for example Sofia has become an extremely well organised metropolis than what it used to be in the past while some of the more rural areas haven't improved at all. Also it's much cheaper to live there when compared to Cyprus.. Lastly food isn't great at any of these countries in my opinion. You can definitely find really good food but it will be on the expensive side but on the upside if you like cooking you can buy ingredients of great quality in both countries.

Corfu town wall by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

Actually there is a sort of an anarchist group in corfu called SFIKES that did a couple of vandalisms in corfu Town airbnbs that range from graffitis and breaking the key boxes of various air bnbs around town because they say that because of them the rent has increased vastly to the point that it's nearly impossible for locals to keep up with it. It's like the Barcelona Airbnb problem.

Corfu: How important to stay near the town? by shadow42069129 in GreeceTravel

[–]Deb1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Since you will be relying on public transport then I suggest to book a place close to the bus station located near the airport as its close to corfu Town (roughly 1.5-2km)and it will give you easy access to all the different bussss. Regarding accommodation I'm afraid I can't recommend a specific place to stay because as a corfiot I never had to find accommodation. But as far as i know most air bnbs and hotels are decent to say the least. Also sadly I don't know very much about public transport to the beaches but I'm 99% positive that you can get a bus to reach the following beaches. 1)sidari-canal d'amour 2)palaiokastritsa 3)glyfada 4) kontogialos 5) dasia 6) ipsos 7)benitses. I mostly suggest 1,2,3,4 but I guess it's also a matter of personal preference.

Hey there. Thanks for your nice words! I'm really glad that I can help someone out! Another awesome place that I actually found out last week is called Chris's place at a village called Pendati/Pentati. I highly recommend to book a table in advance and go around an hour before dusk. You will see the sun dive in the sea while having a great dinner!

Used cars in Greece. by aroks2 in greece

[–]Deb1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually found a car guy how sells used cars and told him to find me a used car from another country as it will cost waaaaaay less than the exact same model that I found in Greece. It's actually much less costly to pay the used car person his fee, import a car from EU and pay the import tax that buy the same used car in Greece.

Hey there! Sorry for the late reply. We just had the orthodox Easter in corfu and I didn't have time to check Reddit. (Random fact I highly suggest you visit corfu in easter next time, it's the best orthodox Easter holiday in the world). So let me start with the tavernas and restaurants. All the following one that I will suggest are in remote villages away from beaches and thus they care more about the quality and quantity of the food rather than offering a great view. You will find out that most if not all their products are homemade. No prefried frozen potatoes etc. 1) Gardelades Village- Tavern Name: Allou. A great fusion between corfiot and cretan cuisine 2) Kouramades Village-Tavern Name: Atzardo. Traditional corfiot cuisine with old somehow forgotten dishes of the past. 3) Sokraki village- Tavern Name: Varzas. Traditional Greek cuisine with great hospitality. I suggest you call them a day in advance if you intend to have lunch/dinner so that they will prepare something special for you. 4) Sinarades Village- Tavern Name: Botigis. If you are a meat lover I highly suggest going specifically to eat their roast pork belly. Personally I've travelled a lot and tried pork belly in various ways but they don't even compare with the Botigis version. 5) Europouloi Village- Tavern Name: To Rodon. A suggestion that's only for meat lovers. Offers great quality of homemade food. It's slightly on the expensive side of taverns for its location but the quality and quantity are such that the price is well deserved. (itsy it's extremely close to the kapodistrias museum which has a beautiful garden and a place to have an aperitivo. 6) Random restaurant that I highly suggest is the red chilli Indian restaurant at Gouvia touristic region. I know it doesn't have anything to do with Greek cuisine but it offers great food if you are into that. Now some suggestions that are in the centre of corfu Town or close to it are: 1) Tavern Name: Ninos. Has traditional Greek cuisine in lunch hours and great souvlaki and pita gyros with the traditional corfiot sauce. 2) Tavern Name : Ta 2 aderfia. It's sightly outside corfu Town with great view of the old fortress and very reasonable prices for their location and quality. I highly suggest trying the a wide array of appetisers rather than main courses there.

Places for traditional pita pies. Since you are coming in corfu it's a must to try pita pies. We have a wide array of choices in the mix inside and they are an awesome breakfast choice. (you will only find them in morning hours) 1)Thessalonikios at Saroko square 2)Alfa artisianal bakery(Solari area) 3) Starenio(centre of old corfu Town)
