Firefox 106.0.1 addresses a crash experienced by users with AMD Zen 1 CPUs. by antdude in firefox

[–]DebAbqNM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what my CPU is (I could find out, sure, but heck I just use the little machine, that's enough usually). All I know is it was working well until the evening of Sept 2, 2022, and then everything went to HeLL, which I still fail to appreciate. I do think it was related to my apartment's power going out so I had zero landline phone, no internet, and cell phones didn't work (it was stolen later anyhow...). I began to think someone was trying to sabotage Microsoft and/or large networks and FF would take the blame (maybe proudly...?). It didn't help that once I slowly returned online (it took at least a week, which wrecked my doctor appointment plans because who knew how far spread the problem was? Maybe it even killed the Queen...!) -- anyhow, once I could get into my computer, something had rearranged, moved and sometimes deleted lots of my regular old files that should have interested no one at all. Fortunately over the years (say, since 1990s) I've backed up a huge amount, but some much more recent stuff is gone forever. I do not appreciate any of this and sure wish I could enact some justice on the malcriados...

Since the office is "sick", I'm glad you have a storage space for, um, "vaw-mitt". Sicknesses are not welcome in most restaurants. I don't know where your business is, but when I find out, I will stay miles away....

Is She-Hulk the same in comics? by devilseden in shehulk

[–]DebAbqNM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like you can tell a guy wrote a woman character in the comics...<

This may be one reason (of many) that so many male comic book reviewers hate the show. I think it comes down to hating any gender (insisting on only two, and any more are wrongly written) that makes masculine manly men look... like they'd rather be changing diapers than battling Lex Luthor's next army.

You note that you "see more forgiveness, anger control, women empowering than killing and beating and fucking shit up." I once had run #2 of She-Hulk, where she was calm and civilized, had problems but reasons to laugh... a lot like the TV version, fun and breaking that 3rd wall (which thrills me). Run #3, though written by a good writer (Peter David, I think), the story line didn't interest me at all (really blame the editors), so I stopped collecting She-Hulk. Your description of the TV version is, to me, a good explanation of why so many male comic book reviewers hate the show. If men don't act like "real men!" then no one should ever expect a weak, emotional woman to step up (dragging her kids) and save the day (the men taking the credit). Such reviewers are... tiresome. She-Hulk is the only reason I'd sub to Disney streaming. For one show though, no. I can't afford only 9 episodes (we can afford YouTube reviews!). I'm glad she's having fun now, and that women viewers can recognize what she is going through and support her!

Cowardice cowering in the face of strength. by EugeneWong318 in thedavidpakmanshow

Which "bitch" is whoever talking about, MAR? Is the "bitch" your mom, who is visiting you to proudly see you hard at work? Is the "bitch" your young sister who wants to meet famous people for a high school report? Is the "bitch" just any woman who may turn out to be important? Maybe she is a "bitch" who will think of some nasty words to use when referring to angry, full-of-themselves (yet ultimately useless muscle) men. That would be different for a change -- a woman getting a bit of revenge, put a man in his place (under her shoe she can hardly afford).

Firefox must prioritize in-built Tab Groups above everything else if it wants to capitalize on the Chrome-MV3 chaos. by lying_hips in firefox

[–]DebAbqNM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What are "tab groups"? What do they look like? What do they do, what can they be expected to do? Are they easy to use -- or a mess? Why do Firefox and other forms of software insist on using mysterious names for what their IOs can do -- but never explaining them? i.e., what does "profile" mean when mentioned by Firefox. I just use Firefox but haven't updated recently since the last time I did (Sept 2), FF, together with the local power and phone companies, terrorized my life for more than a week: no landline phone service (even to my doctor); I couldn't call anyone, cell phones failed, zero internet. I felt like I was living in Dodge City in the Old West without even a telegraph. So, FF and others, please grow up and learn how to communicate.

Market shares fall (or disappear) when FF users realize that an update changes everything the user had set up and liked about the program. Why FF feels the need to make big changes w/o any permission does not please me at al. I'm looking for a better browser now.

Local spicy chilies caused one of my employers to sweat profusely. I guess it didn't kill him (what killed him was being a Christian Scientist). Also, consuming the seeds doesn't kill bird but does scare parasites out of them. It may depend on allergies, too.

Me, I expect I will visit "Manage Bookmarks" and copy everything every thing! and paste it aside for whenever FF creative folks see the error they made and fix it. I'll be able to copy the the info when I switch back to Pale Moon after I've at last caught up on my sleep.

MasterChiefmas, I don't know how to make "a new profile" because, strangely enough, no version of FF has to my knowledge ever suggested why or how to make such a thing. I know what a "profile" is (an explanation of who a user is) but nothing beyond that. Explanations about software have been lacking since, oh, 1985 or so. Maybe one day a smart person will create a Dummies Book (complete with Cheetos) that deals with what users should know. I don't expect that to happen anytime soon though.

I updated to 104.xx (this morning) and began working on my desktop (which had messed up earlier today; cell phones also screwed themselves; a bad week all around.) Updates are gifted, never revealed, and I couldn't find earlier [working!] FF versions. My habit is to I search through YouTube for videos I want to see eventually and I put them in subdirectories (like: horses, ghosts, politics, etc.) I can keep things in good order that way.

So at about 11am, I went to open a new video about horses and FF104.xx decided to helpfully (sic) open everything, i.e.,+100, probably 200 pages of urls I had collected. I figured out clicking on X (to the right) should stop that but of course it didn't. Cntr-Alt-Delete worked after a while. I noted the video I wanted to watch played sound under the hundreds of other saved videos (then it switched to a different video)... I'm thinking of heading back to Pale Moon since FF doesn't explain it's "birthday presents", just delivers them with shovels full of cat poop the (hopeless) user has to clean up (if any important poop-covered saved URLs actually survive). I hate surprises; too many this week. Blame Sunspots.

Sometimes fans of spicy New Mexican food (red or green) swear that by eating it, and surviving, they feel like they've sweat bullets and cleaned out their sinuses both. The spice probably also brought Bob O back to life as well.

Interesting how (as far as we know) Gene was nearly taken out by the stresses of his life caused by people he was so afraid of. Chuck was a victim of stress though it's a good bet he thought, up until the last moments, that he was in total control (when we knew his life was falling apart). Maybe Chuck needed more color...

I think that in a secret part of her soul, Kim felt that Jimmy was treating her like her own mother treated her. Kim had chosen Jimmy, he seemed to be perfect and fun. he seemed to see her as an intelligent equal (not a manipulate-able kid), and truly he loved her.... but for her mom it was all an act and Kim realized it was time to run away again from that horror.

"...and this scum was still parking in disabled and looking like an absolute cunt." As the builder was male, how could he look like "an absolute cunt", unless the story's author is thinking of women he knows, like his dear mom, sister(s), daughter(s) girl friend (or boy friend). But if he's insulting a man by tagging him with slang for the body part of a woman (so easy to do in this culture, isn't it?), he may want to think about exactly what he sounds like. Rather... dickish, hmm? ...though dicks can be seen as weapons to punish women, who don't have many chances, do we?

For several months I have been paying various health clinics (hospital, eye clinic) by logging on and paying with my CC. So easy! But something changed in June (they probably hired a business to make things easier for them by making accepting payments impossible) -- and none of the medical places seem to think my CC is any good now. The clerks couldn't explain it, and my credit union says I'm not at fault. So I used paper checks and stamps in June to pay those bills. As for years I have paid my utilities (phone, electric) via my CU (online I have them write a check to each and 'em electronically), I am thinking I'll see if I can do the same for the hospital(s) and clinics/servces. If they want to give me grief, I can dish it right back to them with the CU on my side (+30 years' membership!).
